Savinho

Has he come out & said it's still on. City chief whoever he is seems pretty certain
Its always been a matter of deal on as long as we meet City's valuation. Romano said we'd had a Eur 50m offer rejected and that city would do business at around 70m euros. So will be down to our own valuation and willingness to go higher

I just don’t get how he is now worth €70m after last season
Well he's four years younger than Kudus who you say is great, and in less games in the league last season he got one more goal contribution than him.

Granted he was playing for Emirates Marketing Project but just watching him you can see he is of a similar standard and is only 21. So a fee similar to what we paid for Kudus doesn't strike me as over paying....

Worth noting that the fee City paid for him probably was lower than it otherwise would have been because of relationships between clubs shenanigans iirc.

He's a very highly rated young player already proven and experienced at a high level that they're not actively trying to sell.
100%
His Girona numbers were good and would have him valued at maybe the 30m mark because it was only one season
@harr1984 he is younger and much less proven than Kudus is today

Its feels like Mighty Boosh English people talking euros at each other. Next we'll be calling the 6 yard box the 5.6 meter box

As I've explained this is not about how much he is "worth" its about City saying we don't really want to lose him but acknowledge that at the right price they'd do it. So its then up to us as to whether we put that price down. He could be the next Palmer. He could be not.

That's pretty much the case with every transfer unless there's a release clause, no? There is no objective "worth" if the buying club is willing to pay a deal the selling club accepts a deal happens.

The what is he "worth" is more a way of talking about should we be willing to pay that much for him.

Yep
That’s right
I also think its basically a situation that really emphasises the *difference* between where we operate and where "the top clubs" operate in terms of mindset.

We are like "holy sh*t Savinho might be available. With a few years of work he could be incredible, help us get top 4 and we can sell him to Real Madrid for £100m"

Meanwhile City are sat there thinking: "Savinho is really good, if we keep him we can develop him into a useful player....but if we get £60m for him we can buy Rodrygo and just fast forward to smashing up the league again this season"

Maybe
I think it’s all about fits for teams too and Pep really gets that
He wants his machine to be efficient and okay his way
He may well think another player is better fit so win-win
What we do know is he is a player city “inherited” through their multi club model which shows how it can work and everything that’s wrong with it potentially (depends on your perspective);

I don't think it's a mindset thing. More just a finances and where we are in the football hierarchy at this moment compared to City.

I also don't think we're signing players like him primarily to sell them to Real or whoever. There are other benefits to developing players into great players - like getting to have great players despite not being at the very top of the football hierarchy.

i rate savinho and believe he will be great in TFs system where dribblers can excel.

though he is predominantly left footed - its much better than being predominantly right footed. That said he can cross with his right pretty well.

60mil is fine considering we paid 55 for johnson. even palhinha didn't come cheap.
