and he didn't even flinch or complain. was our player of the season before he got injured. i miss him soo much. the team do equally.

Nine out of ten players would be already half turning away by the time it hit them which is when you get own goals/hand balls.

He's the one out of ten who does it right.

Tottenham midfielder Sandro recovering with Internacional

Tottenham midfielder Sandro is being allowed to work his way back to full fitness in his homeland with the medical staff of Internacional.

The Brazilian suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 0-0 Premier League draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in January.

He underwent surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is now recuperating in South America with his former club.

Sandro, who moved to White Hart Lane in an £8million deal with Internacional three years ago, believes the time spent in the southern hemisphere will aid his recovery.

He told Globo Esporte: "It will help me a lot being in an environment I know.

"Tottenham know Internacional's staff and how they treat the players, so that helped them release me."

That seems a tad odd to me, is there any relation to being in a warmer climate to recovering quickly?

Because otherwise it seems odd to spend however much on world class training facilities and physio stuff to send him back home to get him fixed up.

It's that kind of thing which will not only hopefully aid in a quicker recovery (I'm thinking along the lines of mental relaxation and recuperation as well as physical) but also make him appreciate Spurs all the more because of it.

Well done the club letting him go with their blessing.

Agreed.

Much of Sandro's battle over the coming months will be a mental one. So allowing him to go home and recuperate among his family and friends could be hugely beneficial. Very sensible. And will pay dividends.

Expect the Mail, Mirror, Sun and myriad no mark football websites to run stories in the near future about him being unhappy in England and being on the point of a return to Internacional, though.

This is very true in my experience. My ACL recon was a year ago on 26 March and my biggest problem now is confidence in the knee. Physically he will be fine given his natural fitness levels, ongoing first class medical treatment/facilities and age. I hope he isn't pushing it though, no-one should be playing again until at least 8 months after surgery. 9 months is average for athletes and a year for mere mortals like me.

As for the warmth issue. My knee definitely hurts more on colder/cloudy days which are few and far between here in Melbourne during summer :)

Agree with all of this.

My son had a terrible ACL injury, which was then further exacerbated by a meniscus issues. He came back after a year and did his ankle ligaments a few months after that (all in his teens). He never fully recovered mentally from the ankle stuff so relatively soon after building up the knee.

I think it's superb that the club feel confident enough in their relationship with him to let him recuperate there...very very smart. Better than hanging around London, lonely...

If it is a set recovery program he might as well be doing his rehab amongst family and friends, with luck he will report to us ready and fit for pre-season training in the summer, the club obviously trusts him to do the work so it is better for everyone for him to be happy.

Not sure it's a matter of trust, likely we are paying the Inter physios to look after him, and they would tell us if he wasn't turning up for his sessions.


Why would they do it for free? They wouldn't.

By trust I meant that Sandro would work hard and put the effort in without being forced too, he seems that sort of guy, Shearer was amazing he had two bad ones and came back each time, his mental strength must be very good, I am sure that Inter have the necessary equipment for him to use its just bloody hard work on Sandro`s behalf, I dont think it would cost them much money because they would be at the club anyway, I have had some bad knocks in my time and you seem to come up against a wall and feel like giving in, the last 15% of recovery is pushing that wall down.
