'Round pegs in square holes'

Johnson couldn't play Gallagher's role anyway. We gambled on playing Odobert there (to some good effect) but didn't think about squad and the possibility for injuries.
No he couldn't, but we have plenty of others who could and nobody that can really do the Johnson role.

One key issue is by shunting players to fit a system you can weaken their best position too
For example gray in CM instead of did Bissouma with an actual left back.. at left back
IMO Is better than playing Bissouma and gray at left back
Hopefully that all makes sense

If Tudor picked his best eleven with everyone fit then I think this would be what it is based on defensively. He will play 3 at the back, given a choice.

Vic
Romero, Danso VDV
Palhinha

He can now play 4 out of the 5 in their right positions so that is a must for me. Then Porro/Spence at RWB and Souza as LWB. My only compromise is unfortunately with Gray. I think he has to fill Romero's position until the skipper is available again. We ideally do not persist with Dragusin in his current form.

If I take your logic then perhaps 6 are locked in

Vic
Romero, Danso VDV
Palhinha, Gray

I'm just not sure how we find a replacement for Romero until he is back. Playing Dragusin in that key RCB position worries me a little. Even if he defends well, he's not got the ball playing abilities. A left field choice would be Dorrington but that isn't going to happen. Another could be Spence if he's fit again. We've seen him briefly play there earlier this season. He's definitely got the qualities on the ball.

I do think Tudor's dilemma is wanting to play his chosen system vs putting players in their rightful positions. He had neither in the Fulham game.

You play what you have in their most effective way

So

Vic

Porro Danso VDV Souza

Gray and Palhina

RKM Xavi tel

Solanke

Richy could easily start maybe wide left coming in as he has done before and we play Tel right

Would actually be my team or close to it. However, then Romero comes back. He has to play right? So then we change the personnel/system again. Hence why we might be better of forming that go-to system in a back 3 now.

Also, I think you and I both know that the 3 in your 4-2-3-1 will be hot and cold. I'd be shocked if all 3 of those guys can find consistency over a few games. I'd be shocked if they all clicked on Thursday together.

RKM as a right attacker definitely has the jury out.

One thing I would say is that our strength that gets us out of relegation could actually be our depth. We saw a massive implication of that with our subs against Fulham. Tudor used 16 players pretty well I thought.
