It isn't about how many forwards you have on a pitch. 4 or 5 forwards starved of service when the defence is getting overrun doesn't do anything.

It is about achieving the best balance to start keeping possession and creating chances.

You have answered your own Q in the post - his selections are being heavily influenced by the lack of fit available players.

As much as we have struggled to create we have also struggled not to give up chances to the opposition.

So he needed to make us competitive and coherent in a game first and foremost. And stop the self destruction. Brighton are an extremely good team and they played well against us but.we almost beat them. Honestly that brighton performance was the most coherent.90 minutes from the Spurs first team in GHod knows how long....and we now have a win.
All that happened is the players simply worked harder out of respect for a better manager.

Against bottom of the league who have been walloped by West Ham and Leeds we managed and XG of 1.06 which includes 0.63 for the (pretty lucky) goal.

All I’m saying is I think he needs to find a way to get an attacking tune out of what he’s got. We’re not staying up averaging 1.06xg per game.

You can only get so much when you have Maddison, Kulu, Kudus, Odobert out, plus Solanke, Richarlison and Bergvall not fully fit. Plus no fit natural left back and your best passer out from the back Romero out. He has now lost Xavi and Solanke. Hard work will have to be enough. And if it isn't, so be it.

We don't have the players - no manager will turn this rabble in to an attacking force. If we stay up it will be ugly and it will require a lot of luck

I wish he would too, but I'm not sure these players are fit enough for that. Sometimes, you reach a conclusion and you see everything through that lense, but I the lack of movement has been a huge problem all season. The lack of passing ability hasn't helped but if you look at the games, we hardly ever pass it to a moving player which, in turn, makes it even more difficult for them to beat their man.

We're slow and static, which leads to more backwards and sideways passing. It also gives the impression that the players are lazy when, in fact, they might be unfit.

I wouldn't bet the house on it, but it's a feeling I've had all season.

Just basics of the game pass and move, as a kid told not to pass to teammates who were standing still, slows the game and makes it difficult for them in most circumstances. .

Well, about the only thing we have had none of this season is luck. Meanwhile, West Ham have one injury and have been getting plenty. That 'luck swing' is what I am hoping for. IF we can slog a win at Villa Park, and IF they were to lose at Brentford, suddenly the luck momentum shifts... straw clutching I know, but...

Except he did. He confirmed there's none.
Personally I think his situation will be similar to that of a lot of our players. For one season be prepared to take the hit in terms of retaining players and manager whilst selling Romero and maybe VDV - Basically, RDZ would stay along with the likes of Simons, Gray, Kudus, Bergvall etc for a season and hopefully we go straight back up. If not and then RDZ will go and most of our assets will be sold.....
