RIP Cyrille Regis

This is not meant as a slight on Cyrille Regis one bit, but upon his death every man and his dog comes out saying how good he was a person, what he did for black footballers etc. I've been obsessed with football since I was 13 (now 30) and can genuinely say I'd never heard of him before he died. Why does it take the death of someone to celebrate their achievements so much?

Am I the only one?

He played before football was invented in 1992.
