It's quite feasible that every clubs offer to him has not been acceptable. He stated HE would be making the decisions. Bit harsh to say he's not thinking straight.

I understand RDZ is wanting only the fully committed BUT it's a strange one with Richie because if you did include him in the squad...he has demonstrated (probably more than most players) that he will give it full commitment/effort every time he crosses that white line. It wouldn't be a wasted squad place unlike Xavi.

The market value is what it is. It seems Richy maybe overvaluing his services which is the reason for the situation he is causing.

Put it this way, I don’t think players like Tonali, Fernandes, Van Hecke, Marmoush, Robertson etc are going to give two hoots about Richy’s situation. Savio might be more sympathetic, some of the players here last season might also be, but I don’t think Richy has the political capital among the squad to seriously turn anyone away from being fully behind RDZ.

Of course, not saying they will take sides, I am saying it would only take a string of losses for players to look towards the Richy situation etc for it all to add to negative feeling.

At top level PL football it doesn't take much as all for things to sour, not saying they will, just saying it can. The press will play their part, from that side the clubs exposed RDZ IMO

I think there is a subtle difference between being willing to run hard on the pitch, and being fully committed to the RDZ way and everything that entails. Buying into the system, the patterns of play, forcing yourself as a more established player to submit to something else. I also think with the intensity and commitment RDZ is looking for, it’s about every second that your players are interacting. The kind of culture that sets. The kinds of behaviours that are acceptable. I don’t think Richy has demonstrated that he would fit well with that, that he would be additive to it.

Not withstanding, I think this is partly about Richy but also not about him. The club has said if you want to go, you can go. And if you want to fight, we will value you. So Djed can go. And Lucas get a new contract. No hard feelings either way. Again it’s the club sending a message about how they will be able to be dealt with.

I don’t think we’ve had a culture properly, since Poch. These are the steps being taken to build one back. I think Richy has not been thinking straight because he assumed he’d be able to come back into Spurs and ‘honour his contract’ but we have clearly set higher expectations on what we want to see in the commitment of our players. And good on the club for doing that. Richy has miscalculated, and now finds himself unable to play top level football. He has misunderstood the leverage that the club would have, the objectives the club had, and I think if he had better advice or maybe wasn’t so determined to make a stand for whatever reason, he might be earning perfectly good money and playing football in Liverpool or Turkey right now.

Richy never came across as smart but now he's appearing to be unreasonable.

Richy isn't exactly a nuanced player. I think you pretty much get what you see, regardless of tactics, systems etc

Similarly Richie s character is set in stone as well, he's a big character to have around and be around. Will that character be a fit.......well, everything RDZ has said in the last 24 hours would suggest he was good with it. Unless that was performative from the gaffer?

It's a pity its come to this but that's the football business, people seem to forget we sold Pat Jennings to Woolwich and used Jimmy Greaves as a makewieght for the Martin Peter's deal, neither player wanted to go.
I sure many on here who have worked have been let go at sometime in their life, it's a horrible experience and it not much fun when you have to implement the process.

But surely players had to agree terms, even back then in the Dark Ages, and they weren’t obliged to accept a salary decrease when they were still under contract?

Here's why I have a problem with it

1) Professional footballers should not make these types of statements period. It's not their place to be operating comms in this way

2) Using words like "gave my life" and "despite this riot" and "pressures, threats, retaliations" etc is just over dramatic BS. Richi is a highly paid professional footballer. He's clearly been watching too many Hollywood All American Hero films

3) "I’ve been through a lot of bad things these days and almost all of them happened because of decisions made by other people". - this irks me because it shows that Richi isn't owning things himself. He's just blaming others. In my world, you have to own things yourself. This theme is constant through the entire message.

4) He makes this entire message about Spurs and Everton, and conveniently forgets to mention the other club that offered him the fat salary.

I could go on and on, but 1 is the biggest thing. It's his lack of professionalism in the way he uses social media that is my problem. He is a company employee and he shouldn't be using it this way.

5). He's in the wrong job for that outlook, and I'm sure he's benefited enough from "other peoples decisions" in the past.
