I think you can absolutely wonder and question where goals will come from when those that are left have no history of getting goals in the PL.

Sure. I don’t think it’s coincidence either. But I think it’s just confidence and cohesion with the system. If we get to Christmas and the players still aren’t delivering with it when at other clubs they’ve picked it up more quickly, then I’ll definitely be worried.

Agreed. I hope it does. I just said Christmas because I didn’t know exactly how many international breaks and how many actual games there would be beforehand.

But if we say it took Brighton about 6 games to click, and that was on the foundation of Potter playing a not entirely different style and with a settled group of players…I think my patience extends to around 10 games this season to see it really start to come together. Maybe less because we have better and more expensive players. But also the league is so much more competitive now.

But yeah, if we’re still struggling for goals and chances after about 10 games in the league, I am going to be concerned at the rate of progress of this project, and start looking back at the decisions that got us to that point with a different lens.
