Richarlison

Apparently there's a rumour in Brazilian media that Richy is going to take legal action to force Spurs to cancel his contract so that he can join Vasco de Gama. I suspect if he offered to walk away for nothing we'd bite his arm off but by 'cancel' he probably means 'pay up' his contract.
According to this they're talking about going to court 🤷🏻‍♂️

Had to be BS?

Canal do Pedrosa took to X to share an update from journalist Lucas Pedrosa. He says Vasco da Gama were optimistic about closing the transfer after a meeting on Wednesday. The two clubs were close to an agreement before the player decided to unilaterally terminate his contract.

His decision came as a surprise to the Brazilian club. This could now end up ‘derailing the negotiations’ because Spurs have no intention of letting him leave for free. He states: ‘Spurs feels legally protected and believes it has provided the Brazilian forward with the necessary working conditions. Another point the reporter heard from lawyers involved in the deal was that the chance of Richarlison securing a contract termination under these terms is ‘very slim,’ which would make the forward’s arrival unfeasible.’

For now, Spurs haven’t rejected the offer while Vasco, who aren’t in favour of contract termination, didn’t withdraw their interest. However, the negotiations have stalled. Pedrosa ends his report by stating: ‘Today, despite the request to terminate his contract, sources involved in the deal believe that the outcome is largely in the hands of the Brazilian forward, since it would make no difference whether he joins Vasco as a free agent or is sold at this point. The saga, which seemed to be heading toward a happy ending, promises to unfold new chapters over the next two days. The Brazilian transfer window closes on September 11.’

I read that under an agreement between FIFA and FIFPRO, the global players union, forcing players to train alone or with the 'reserves' can be justification to terminate a contract but possibly with the compensation due for the remaining period of it. That would mean that Richy could walk away without a transfer fee but demand for the remainder of his contract to be paid up. However, if he was training with the first team yesterday then it may well be BS.

But honestly, what a fudging mess this has been. I expect Richy hasn't helped but I think the club has handled the situation very badly too.

Yeh I read a while back that is now banned, clubs are not supposed to be able to do it

The clubs followed RDZ wishes and thats absolutely fine, he is the footballing leader, its what everyone wants/wanted, but there is always downside to such idealistic views on football and which footballers you like or don't. This could have been handled waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better

Sounds like it's just bartering going on. I'm sure he'll be at VdG tomorrow.

If they can't pay the fee we want, there might be a creative solution like Johnny Cardoso, where we just have a sell-on inserted on their most valuable young player

I will say, as much as I’ve been happy with our owners m, VV and the strategy around the market this summer, I do want more of an explanation as to how they’ve let this Richy thing happen,

I get backing RDZ, and I get sending a message to all players that we aren’t to be messed with. And I do think Richy has behaved in a bit of a strange way. I guess I just hope we aren’t actually exposed on the contract termination point, because that would be a massive oversight,
