If I remember/understand correctly - that is the case. There is a values test on many areas.
But I don't think they'd pass now.

Economic sanctions are more of a long game. There will always be someone willing to buy their oil if the price is right. Cutting off supply of certain products they can't produce themselves will start hitting them sooner, like electronics for their missiles and tanks.

The west has to do something about the blockade of Ukrainian ports though, so they can get their wheat out, but Putin doesn't really give a brick about any of this. As long as he thinks he can get something out of bombing the brick out of Ukraine, the war will continue.
 
No chance of a draft any war will rapidly turn robotic drone v drone and anti missile capabilities to the fore. Large movements of personnel are doomed to failure.

Also I cannot see any appetite for a voluntary expeditionary force from any nation to assist another beyond NATO professional commitments. Local voluntary defence forces will be set up.

The real war will be against famine and a loss of focus on global environment issues. It is not impossible we will experience rationing in the U.K. first with fuel, then energy power supplies, and eventually food.

Funny how the prevailing sentiment often affects so-called black and white laws. The associations with Russia are looked at through an altered lens now. A year ago, no one really batted an eyelid when Russian-derived money funded UK lawyers to hound people who shone a light on their nefarious practices. If you have practically unlimited funds, you can abuse our libal laws to intimidate. Thankfully there has been a seachange, and maybe these actions won't be upheld as frequently now.

Turkiye is also trying to negotiate safe passage for the grain exports through the Black Sea accompanied by the Turkish Navy. But that involves both Ukraine and Russia agreeing on how that should be done.
