I have no interest in country music, but she was an absolute superstar. What a performer, songwriter and human

My favourite thing about her is that she wrote both Joleane and I Will Always Love - two of the defining songs of the last century - in the same blimming afternoon. Give someone else half a chance!

Always liked the story about her being contacted by Col Tom Parker because Elvis wanted to record I Will Always Love You. She would have loved for him to record it, but they insisted she had to hand over the rights, and she refused to do that.
Very astute businesswoman!
Years later of course along comes Whitney Houston...Dolly's estate will be reaping the royalties on that for years and years to come.

Astute. But also has given every kid in America a book. And funded the development of the Covid vaccine. That what real heros do
 
My favourite Dolly story is when she showed up to Páidí Ó Sé's pub out past Dingle one evening while on her hollybobs. Of course someone had a guitar and knew how to play Coat of Many Colours rather excellently, and was caught on camera (pre-smart phone days I believe).
