Absolutely abhor it. Was a time you'd come on here every day be greeted by at least dozen new topics, half of which were sure to get your juices flowing.

Nowadays this place is about as exciting as the shopping channel.

In my opinion this *thread merging* leaves a stale and unwelcoming look to the community.

Most days this community appears dead...the total opposite of our current vibrant spurs manager and squad.

Just my two penneth..

There isn't much thread merging going on since we discussed this in the summer. The only time we tend to do it is when there is a similar thread a few pages back.

I was the person who merged the Hazard thread last night and hands up, it was the wrong decision. The reason I merged it was because the game was still going on and the same subject was being discussed in two threads. With the benefit of hindsight, leaving it be or merging with the Chelsea thread would have been a better idea.

I do think that we are at risk of having too many threads on other clubs going though but that it probably another discussion.

Possibly it seems that way because all the others are merged? :-"

Arsenal and Chelsea are natural for us. Liverpool is perhaps stretching it but they are the gift that keeps on giving. 'Arry and QPR is a natural because of who he was for us. That leaves plenty of room on the front page for other stuff.

I agree but there would be less space if we have new thread every time one of them does something comment worthy.

When my new No Canadians board gets up and running, we won't be merging any threads. But we will be demerging a lot of threads.

Tends to work fine imo.

I occasionally go away, but then it's nice to come back and catch up on everything about player X in player X's thread, instead of having to wander through a load of different threads that aren't really useful.

I think, in hindsight, the transfer rumour sub forum may well have sat ok in here.

It's not as busy as we expected, although that is as much to do with the clubs inactivity (and resultant lack of ITK) as anything

Really?

I liked it. Keeps everything organised and neat and tidy.

Might just be me though :p

Maybe we could have stickied the 3 main rumour threads, then let the individual player threads run their course.

But yes, it is pretty neat where it is.

If you click on that little blue thingy in front of a thread title it will take you to first unread post in that thread.

A fine technique if you have 4 hours to wade through dozens of new pages

How about an "Other Clubs" sub-forum (like the Transfer Rumours sub-forum), with separate Chelsea, Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, Arsenal, etc. threads in there. That way there wouldn't be lots of non-Spurs threads in the Spurs News n Views section and not everything would have to be lumped in the mega "Other Games/Teams" thread....

Merging so many threads takes any nuance out of the posts. the board also looks boring, because it does not change from week to week.

I am 100% in favour of thread merging. I am 100% against threads being merged anonymously and with no reason given. I also am 100% against anyone asking questions about merging being threatened by the bouncers.
The problem is not merging but speed of merging.
And specifically I will ask for the umpteenth time-why are there two threads about Adebayor?

We have close to a hundred pages of chatter, not counting the individual player threads. It helps that the same discussions aren't repeated every three days, as was the case with the single transfer thread.

You're busted man, all that stuff you post in random is just to generate discussion, I'd even lay money you're an undercover mod whose job it is is to play devil's advocate.

I have my eye on you. 8-[

very few threads are merged. If you don't think that there enough interesting, original, thought provoking, new threads on the board then you should try and start some.
