Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Mate getting paid the correct amount and being able to work in safe conditions is not utopia. Funny thing is that most critics of unions take the benefits that unions win. If they are so anti union, maybe they should donate those pay rises to charity... yeah like that's going to happen.

No you are ok, I forged my own path in the world and will take what little is left after taxes and enrich my childs life.

I wouldn't work in those conditions. I don't need a union to tell me that or to blackmail more than I'm worth from an employer.

Some poor buggers don't have the choice, particularly in periods of high unemployment.
If there is an excess of a commodity that outstrips demand, the value of that commodity will fall. Under such circumstances, differentiation (education, work ethic, etc) can be used to make a commodity more attractive than alternatives.

People are not commodities, like timber, minerals or oil mate. Do you not see that? Jesus wept!

Serious question...are you on the spectrum?
I doubt it. One of the skills that's served me so well in business is understanding what people truly want and need out of negotiations despite what they say outwardly. I don't think that's possible for autists.

You're mistaking a lack of concern for others for a lack of ability to have concern.

Of course peoples labour is a commodity.

As a worker you sell your work to someone else and thereby that chunk of your life is no longer belonging yourself.

You agree with Marx then. He stated that capitalism reduced workers to units of production. As I said earlier, you're a Trot at heart Scara.
Quite the opposite. Workers can't be reduced to units of production because, unlike trots, I don't believe that everyone is equal.

The volume and quantity produced per worker will vary and with it will their value. Something trots and unions have failed to grasp for decades.
