Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Let’s not beat around the bush; for Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, Lowe and their ilk it’s about ‘being above’ black and brown people in the social hierarchy, and in the eyes of the law.

The National Police Chiefs Council Anti Raciam guidelines state officers must “treat white suspects differently”. It explicitly states that “racial equity does not mean treating everyone equally”.

But we don’t have two tier policing?

Yeah that’s bonkers. We should strive for a colourblind society. Treat people by the content of their character and not the colour of their skin.

I also find Farage’s comments despicable and inflammatory. Trying to score political points from an 18 year old’s murder is scraping the barrel. Actions matter but words also matter at times like this where people want leadership and politicians to lower the temperature and read the room. Even ambiguity isn’t good enough, leaders need to be crystal clear and show compassion and condemn violence.

I clarified in an earlier post that I did not see the part of the speech where he brought up immigration. The clip I saw was a good 2-3 minutes long so made out it was the entire thing and wasn’t on a pro Farage platform so had no reason to think it wouldn’t have been the full thing and the most damaging part would be left out.

Understood mate, and it does get tricky deciphering the full context of anything in a social media-dominated world.

We have a decade identity poplitics being applied to any minority in the country, encouraged to see everything in their life as a reflection of there they sit in a racial pyramid of oppression. But now it surprise people when working class White people who didn’t see any benefit from being white now do the same thing?

Sorry?

Are you suggesting that minorities have allowed themselves to be 'encouraged' to see everything in their life as a reflection of their 'place' on some 'racial pyramid of oppression'?

That is an outrageous comment mate. Outrageous. When my Dad was regularly being called a p a k i in the 70s (he was Persian LOL) I don't remember him 'reflecting' on his 'place' in this 'pyramid'? I DO remember much laughter over the fact that the average thick t wat could not differentiate between Persian or Pakistani!!!!!

The vast majority of human beings want the same things, top of which is to enjoy a peaceful life.

I am hopeful I have got the wrong end of what you're saying there.

I'm sorry, where does it say 'must treat white suspects differently'? You put it in quotations, did I miss it? Are we looking at two different documents???

Here's the full document/link. It's a little different in all reality...

This wouldn’t work in the UK though. Questions like does the Primeminister look like you? Have you been to another country? Do people on TV look like you. All the kids would move.

Yes it does work
In the UK.

I know how lucky I am to be a cis white male, doesn’t mean there isn’t lots of people who have had it easier than me, but that’s not the point, I’ve had it far easier than most.

99% of our PM’s have looked like me. Yes I’ve travelled a bit and yes of all the TV I’ve watched, most presenters have been white British men.

I won the fudging lottery being a white European male.

I dont think there was identity politics applied to minorities for a decade. I think minorities have been punched down at for 60 years in the UK because of their ethnicity and now there seems to be more balance in society people are being spun a rhetoric along the lines of "hey, remember those you were better than, well now they have as many rights as you, that's the issue" when it isnt anything near the cause of people's own issues.

Even the DEI stuff is rubbish, equality of opportunity isnt the same as equality of outcome

This is the document.

The exact quote.

Our commitment to racial equity means producing equality of policing outcomes for people from different ethnic groups by responding to individuals and communities according to their specific needs, circumstances and experiences, with understanding that these will be racialised and with the aim of reducing harm. It does not mean treating everyone ‘the same’ or being ‘colour blind’.

Yes. That is what I am suggesting.

99% of PM’s in your lifetime have not looked like you. Since Thatcher there have been 3 female PM’s and 1 was Asian. Ironically all Tories, who currently have a black female leader.

Here were the pundits for the 2022 World Cup on BBC.
