Pedro Porro

I'm afraid that this guy remains the weakest link in our team. In the first half, every Spammer attack went down our right hand side, the same with Bournemouth. Other sides know this is our weak point.
Purely defensively I agree. Though I think his defensive shortcomings get overstated at times compared to Spence, Udogie, VdV, Romero and even the (defensively excellent/really good) Palhinha, Sarr and Bentancur) he's the weakest.

On the ball and going forward he's one of the best. The one closest to Romero in terms of passing. Probably our best crosser and definitely the best crosser out of our full backs.

With our starting deep midfielders and some of our other defenders having their shortcomings in on the ball stuff, passing, creativity, press resistance Porro's strengths are really important for the team and our overall balance.

Sure, players like Sarr, Palhinha, Bentancur and Romero have to help him a bit defensively, cover for his weaknesses. But just as much Porro covers for the weaknesses of others with what he offers on the ball.

Overall I don't see him as the weakest link at all. I think he's a very important player for us and luckily we have three really good full backs where one of them can also play either side. That will very much be needed.

I felt like one thing that he did well last night was stepping up to intercept passes on his flank. He just needs to be more clinical with the pass since that can set a proper counter-attack up.

Like a Bruce Lee movie :tearsofjoy:

I watched this yesterday.
Love Pedro...such a smiling, committed, no hassle member of the team. Laser focus and gives everything.

It's a different life though, luxury doesn't come close. And you can see why players love being at our club....want for nothing.

Also the levels of professionalism now. They get their bodies are everything. Keeping them prime is worth many many millions. So the warm downs, the work at home (in the home pool no less!), the diet, all seem respected. The build up, the focus, there is a lot of sacrafice. But really its a short career. Just 10 years I guess for most.

I wonder though, with players like Poro, who aren't the heaviest (and don't put as much strain on joints as heavier speciemens) if they look after themselves, can they play onto 35 or more like Modric at the top? Maybe that requires a total love of playing as well as the physical prowess.

Hope we sign Poro to a long contract, he's got more to give and is in his prime.
