Other Clubs - Rumours and Discussion

Interesting, I asked in another thread whether Willian is an upgrade on Mata. Why do you think Mata is much better than Willian? I'd been interested to hear your views on the two players attributes and why you think Mata is much better.

Ta

Non footballing reasons

1. Settled in London
2. Settled in the EPL
3. Not a Mercenary, nice fella too
4. Ex team mate of Soldado
5. Purchased by AVB
6. We wanted him, but was another nicked from under our noses

Football Reasons

1. Simply he is better, for me there is not much difference between Mata and Silva. and is more what we need. I don't think Willian is much better than Chadli really, but Mata excels playing centrally.

2. Showboater - Willian > Mata

Really? Chadli looks like a good squad player, while Willian would walk into our first XI ... thats over Chadli.

The playmaker’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge.

The imminent arrival of Anzhi Makhachkala playmaker Willian for £30million has cast further doubt over the 25-year-old's first-team prospects, and Mata was reported to be attracting interest from Tottenham.

However, talkSPORT can reveal there has been no inquiry from the north London side for the World Cup winner and the only Premier League club to make a move is Liverpool.

The Reds wanted to take the attacking midfielder on loan, but that was quickly rejected, with Chelsea insisting Mourinho sees the Spaniard as an integral part of his new-look squad.

Mata was an unused substitute in Monday night’s goalless draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, but the Blues have no intention of letting the former Valencia man go.

I wonder if Mourinho is really threatened by AVB. I mean this is the the story of the disciple going against the master in real life. Imagine how the media circua would react if Spurs ended this season ahead of Chelsea.

I could imagine that he would absolutely hate to lose to AVB. To me Mourinho looks like becoming a parody of himself.

Napoli's owner says he is planning to sue the mayor of Capri after striker Gonzalo Higuain, 25, injured his face climbing on rocks on the island.

Eto'o to Chelsea seems like it's done and dusted. Can't see him keeping Eto'o, Ba, Torres and Lukaku happy. Torres to leave maybe?

If they've signed the Eto'o of old, this will be great for them. But two years at Anzhi in the Russian League as the highest paid player in the world... that's the kind of thing that would make even the best of us a bit rusty, make us lose our edge. I think this is a risk - not so much financial, but a risk of disrupting the squad with a player that will expect a lot of first team football but may not be quite up to the standard any more.

Quite right too. Is this joker in charge of all the coefficients of friction of everything in his town, or isn't he?
