pass it back and forth as they move towards the goal, pretty much like all of the 40 or so goals they have already combined for this season

How many times will you get away with that before you're figured out? The manager needs to create better alternatives when the 'give it to Kane or Son and hope' tactic fails.

Maybe there is a person who has that responsibility as their job who could do it?

absolutely, Jose needs to take a slice to responsibility for this too, but the problem is effort and execution rather than tactical imo

not conceding goals is a sound system to base a title challenge on

I'm suggesting that it might be the players not carrying out the coach's tactics. Hes not often played the same 11 consecutively whi h, apart from injuries, might suggest hes looking for the team that fits his plan.
I'm not suggesting Jose is faultless, but Im not jumping into into the trap set by all you post-defeat knee jerkers that a defeat is one man's fault.
When the opposition have the ball the backline retreats towards our goal the midfield follows, the wide players tuck and Kane and Son drop into our half. That is by plan, we sit in the low block on purpose, poised to his the counter it's not even debatable.

At no point does Jose tell the backline to push forward, he doesn't ask the midfield to consistently press high up. Our tactics are to sit deep when the opposition have possession hopefully win it back and launch a counter.

Today though we had even fewer attackers than usual with basically only Son and Kane to work against the entire Wolves side. Ndombele is too far forward ahead of the play and not getting as involved as he would be if playing deep. One of his best attributes is his ability to drive with the ball as we saw on a couple of occasions today but playing as far forward as he is he just doesn't get to touch the ball enough especially as we are so happy to relinquish the ball.

We do try to hit on the counter but it's hot potato football with the bullets being provided by inadequate players. Sissoko and Winks are simply not good enough for a top level football side.

@milo Dier, Ndombele

Set up is fine if we use the ball once we have it but at the moment we give up possession far too easily.
Ndombele was a bright spark, his run in the 2nd half when he beat 3 players was great. Let himself down with the final ball, that was the easy part.

you can figure out that someone is technically superior to you, doesn't mean you can stop it

Scoring goals to make sure you have a failsafe against your relatively poor defence is what the best coaches do....Jose proving more and more he is no longer a coach good enough to work this out...why give your defence more work to do when you know it's frail?

Even AVB managed to get us to stop leaking late goals. The amount we have given up this season is ridiculous. That’s on Jose. And the pattern of games like today, Palace, Leicester, where we barely muster an attacking threat is most frustrating. Maybe we will win a pot or two and get top four, but this is a season when a tilt at the title is possible given the pandemic conditions.

And Jose is in charge, on a huge wage, and Should be able to beat a wolves team. And palace. And Chelsea. And he hasn’t. But he’ll blame someone else or say we were the best team.

When he was doing that, we were attacking in waves so teams had to think about Walker, Rose, Eriksen, Alli and Son. Now, stick two players on Son and two on Kane and Spurs have fudge all else and those two can’t make space because they’re smothered.

We need a midfield goal scorer. I hope that the links to Sabitzer are accurate. Outside of Son and Kane, we have no first team players who are likely to score double figures. That needs to change.

because thats a more valid way to win, you win in both directions, you beat them twice, you break their defence and you break their attack

1-0 is the perfect score, everything else is just degrees of failure

Is 2-0 a degree of fair? Asking for a friend.
