OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs Sunderland AFC

such a typical half for tottenham, immediately conceding after scoring, not doing anything with 70% possession and of course, we'll never ever score from a corner

Dembele, Capoue, Rose, Eriksen all excellent. Chadli, Ade, Dier good. Kaboul, Chirches and Lamela need to up their game.

So much better than Sunderland

Just need that final touch

Eriksen and Dembele great 1st half, Lamela and especially Ade invisible

Think Kane will get on 15-20 mins into the 2nd half

Actually the player making everything tick is Capoue. Ade's not been invisible - his movement and work has opened up the middle for the incursions of the AM

Lamela on the other hand ...:-k

Not meaning to burst your bubble but we did score from one the other week against QPR

Eriksen is getting there for sure, and you can see what could happen if he develops further in the central role. His decision making has still let him down a couple of times where he could've been absolutely decisive. But it's encouraging.

I think Lamela is looking alright, lots of movemnet and give and go's, trying to make things happen. Its pretty difficult to break through 9 men behind the ball but i'm happy he (and others) are trying things.. better that than keep going back.

Anyone else think it was a pen btw?? Couldn't make a great deal out of the replay. Vergini did move towards the ball, but couldn't see whether it hit his arm or his chest

I think Lamela has had some good moments but at times a shooting opportunity has been there and he just played a simple ball instead. He needs to have more belief and be more direct.

Not for me, it may have touched his arm slightly but not intentionally.

Looked like it hit his chest to me from the replay I saw.

@OptaJoe: 5 - Tottenham have won 5 of their last 6 Prem Lge away games in the month of September after winning none of the previous 15. Turnaround.

The front 4 are doing so much work pressing that Capoue and Dembele are having an easy game in the centre.

Its hard to know if we are actually pressing them back or are they sitting back as at times they have a wall of 9 players at the edge of their box trying to defend. Big improvement on our energy levels though.

He's involved alright but his passing is a little wayward and sometimes he is trying to do too much. He's not hiding though which is a big positive.

It's an awful shame they equalized when they did as they retreated into their defensive shape pretty much since the goal. I think we could have picked them off if Sunderland themselves had shown a little more attacking intent .
