OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs PSG

I can't lie, it stings today
I didn't expect us to win, hoped obviously, so I am just glad the boys gave a good account of themselves. We are weeks into a new teamstyle/management so to perform that well against the best team in europe encourages me. We are missing all our creative players, but to those who did play - fantastic is all I can say. We might have won the europa but that performance was a million times better then what we produced in that final.

Feel more disappointed today than I did immediately afterwards. I think the manner of it hurts more than anything. With 5 minutes to go we were 2-0 up. You can't really disagree with all the "spur**sy" banter online and in the media. I'm WFH today but i'm sure I'll get it in the office tomorrow too.

While Frank will need to work on those final minutes of game management (including which players he can rely on as subs in that situation) I think the bigger picture positive in a league campaign was really seeing how effective that 5-3-2 system is against top teams away from home. Context to the disappointment is in terms of the bread and butter league campaign, even if ZERO improvements happen from now till the end of the season, once the disappointment of the "manner" fades from memory thats a "point" against a Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool or Arsenal right there.

2-0 up in the shootout as well.

Not related to the football itself : the blurb from UEFA said the shuttle buses would continue running until everyone had left the stadium. Apparently they stopped at midnight leaving lots of fans stranded. Especially PSG fans from what I heard who were understandably celebrating long after the match finished but also lots of Spurs fans. No taxis (they don’t have many here), so lots of stranded fans.
Hopefully no one here was impacted by that.

I think UEFA really need to look at the infrastructure around the cities/stadia they appoint to host tournaments. I had thought it was well organised here, but hearing about last night, plus the huge number of fans who had to stay miles outside the town with no transport to get them back, or stay an hour and a half away in Venice, is ridiculous really.
Having said that I did hear - no idea if true - that Udine was the only place that applied to host the game. Maybe UEFA need to be giving some incentives. (Look into it Daniel!)
Not dissimilar to the problems in Bilbao, but fewer fans here.

We're back baby

O'Hara critical of Spurs collapse against PSG

Jamie O'Hara labels Tottenham Hotspur's performance in the Super Cup as 'sexy', after his former side let a 2-0 lead slip to PSG before losing on penalties.

Thanks mate - I did take a break last year. Not just GG, online in general. Kept an eye on everyone here, but otherwise refrained from pitching in.

Didn't know how deep I was in a spiral of online misery until I did - and once I stepped away, I realized so much of what I was getting angry about online didn't matter.

I'd like to think (and hope) I'm a bit less angry about everything now. :)

Good to see you back mate i really am, i know we have not always agreed on many things and i fully understand that you felt you needed a break. Personally i do not use any other site, no T watter and especially Facebook. Too many arseholes, wanabees and know fudge all merchants. This site is more suitable for normal folks.

I have to ask though do you still have your hanging Levy doll ;)

There have been a few exceptions over the years, and especially recently, but on the whole this is a great forum for debate and discourse.

Imo we were literally 1 or 2 players short of winning that game. If we'd had Udogie to come on the last 10 minutes for Spence and Kulu instead of Tel, I think we'd won it.
Spence was phenomenal, but he was out juice at the end, and I don't blame him. He worked his socks off!
Thinking about it now... Paulinha running out of energy and having to come off was a big big miss....which now makes me double annoyed at Biss for fudging about and missing this match.

I feel so much more confident in our back line now. And Sarr and Richarlison are suddenly solid too.

The game served a purpose of sorts. And should motivate us through the season to right the wrongs of losing that. Channel the frustration.

So I’ve just boarded the flight home and I’m sitting next to a Woolwich fan.
But he’s about 10 years old and didn’t even know the result last night.
Guess I have to be a bit quiet about things.

One of the maturer Goon fans then. Most have a mental age of about 6 years old.

I’ve been at home all day today and had Talkbrick on. The amount of “fans” of ours that came on and talked utter dross is amazing. Up to and including the one who decided TF has ruined Ange’s legacy already. I genuinely despair
