***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Saturday August 29th, 5.30pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium***

I think we'll be far from a relegation fight this year but Van Hecke is immediately looking like an issue for me

You can't have a centre back pair with neither being a strong defender.
We had one who could both defend and pass not so long ago. Wasn’t too popular around here iirc.

We give up possession too cheaply.
We aren't yet confident in attack.
We are not organised in our press or in defence.

No surprise considering how new this team is.

Sure but we actually had attacks of promise and quality today and they didn't fail because of a lack of striker. They failed because Tel was rubbish and lost the ball easily or failed at beating his man. If he was half decent today we probably score from at least one of those attacks, traditional striker or no traditional striker.

No striker wasn't the issue today, we had the attacks and we had the chances.
When the CF is behind the winger and feeding him
Who is the winger meant to pass too
Marmoush is a quality pakyer
He is not a CF
He wants the ball and to move with it
And we had Porro make all those crosses in the first half to no one
Because we didn’t start with one
It’s football being made complicated with false 9s and invented brick

Spot on.

If Solanke starts the game instead of Marmoush the scoreline is still the same. I don’t think this is to do with who is playing up too.

Yes, we will need to get results eventually, of course, but there’s time, and there are legitimate reasons for us not performing at our best yet.
Of course
But the line up from the start just looked like a random throw of the dice
They have a new manager
Some new players
And know how they are meant to be playing

Bro Tel didn't fail in those attacks because there was no one to pass to. Watch them again, he just kept losing the ball to Hall, he passed to no one . He shot directly at the defenders legs on a fast break. Those things had nothing to do with Marmoush's positioning. They were all individual failings of Tel.

I get it you want a striker and I don't disagree. But you're trying to make today's situation fit your narrative and it's just not the case today (it might be in future games, but not today).
