OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Palace **. 28.12.25 4.30pm

I dont think because ref and VAR chose to ignore something means its within the laws of the game and we will see some teams penalised for it.
The laws of the game don't actually say that you can't. It's just an interpretation by a referee on whether they think hands on shoulders are an infringement or not.

This is why the subjectivity of decision making always plays a part.

I would think Law 12 includes pushing with excessive force (which would be needed to stop someone jumping) / holds an opponent (holding on shoulders to jump) and impeding an opponent with contact. I would expect a competent person to judge would Mateta been able to get to that ball without committing any of those actions?

The excessive force part is subjective though.

What sane person would not think excessive force was not needed to stop a 6ft man weighting about 12 stone from jumping. I know most footballer can be knocked down by a light breeze but that was so obvious to anyone but the most bias/incompetent/corrupt to miss.

This is literally subjective. As I said at the time, i'm not sure if I considered Ekitite on Romero a foul so even here between the two of us there is a subjectivity to the matter.

I've not referred to the Ekitite incident, although I do think it was a foul, the force used by Mateta was far greater as he needed it to lift himself to that height, subjective is an adjective used in football decisions to cover up mistakes unlike where we all have subjective views on music, art, food etc.
