***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Man Utd*** Europa League Final Wednesday May 21st, KO 8pm

Yeah
That’s the kind of move I’d see it as
Just men not the game to square leg round holes

I think it's about calculated risks.
We will end up playing someone out of position. Truth be told he will likely start with Tel or Son in a 10.
We will need a strong powerful midfielder off the bench, that has to be Sarr who coming into a game could be excellent with his energy and power.

Either way we're shoe-horning mate, unless we play 4-4-2.
Not really
We can play 4-3-3 as we have been playing and have actual midfielders in midfield
We still have some midfielders fit
If we we to play someone in a 10 (which Maddison hasnt played) then they need to be able to do the midfield stuff too
The 2 who have played it that I’m aware of are Moore and Odebert. The latter who I like but his passing for us has been really poor imo. And Ange won’t start Moore

FWIW Porro can (and has several times in his career) played RM.

The concept of starting Moore in this Final is unpalatable. Off the bench, fine. Odobert as a 10? Never for us before, and what has he done to justify it now?

I think it is fair to say that Sarr/Bentancur/Bissouma will start the final, with Sarr having to cover for Porro a lot anyway.

When and where has he player right mid?

Apparently he played 84 times there for Sporting according to Transfermarket (I waa wrong to say 'several' it is more than that). He has played there once or twice for us, I cannot remember the specific matches...just looked at Transfermarket again and it says he has played there 14 times for us!!!!!

My view on this gamble is based on his attacking instincts and his knowing a key pass as well as his assists. Obviously the majority of MY Porro watching has seen him (starting at any rate!) as a RB.

With Spence behind him we'd retain some solidity (providing Ange does his Europa thing and doesn't bomb them on) and it allows Sarr to be saved as a sub for Biss/Bents if tired or on a card.

In search of a number 10:

Son 1747384416300.png

Odobert1747384485515.png

Johnson1747384544699.png

Solanke1747384626995.png

Tel1747384700669.png

Richarlison1747384780123.png

I would start with players who have played their position, who offer the best defensive shield:

Solanke
Richarlison Tel
Odobert
Bentancur Bissouma
Udogie VdV Romero Porro
Vicario
With the speed of Sarr, Spence, Son, and Johnson to come against a tired defence, as and when. That's made me feel a bit more optimistic (EDIT, then I remembered a match unfit Son will definitely start).

We've got to fudge around with the forwards by default. I wouldn't be going into a final fudging around with the midfield and defence as well!

433 with Solanke CF seems the obvious route with our available midfield options - just a matter of deciding on the wing positions

Abundance of options for the left
Odobert or Johnson for the right

I imagine it will be

Son or Richy- Solanke - Johnson

I don’t trust the data
I think it getting wingback mixed up with right mid
He played right wingback at sporting
He played there in that role against us

I'd be surprised if the team isn't:

-------------Solanke--------------
Son---------------------Johnson
------Bentancur--Sarr----------
------------Bissouma-------------
Udogie-VDV-Romero-Porro
--------------Vicario----------------

Although personally I would start Richarlison on the left and I think there's an argument for starting Son/Odobert central instead of Sarr.

Obviously we also have to see who gets injured tonight first!

Should we be thinking about one or two penalty takers finishing the game? E.g. starting Johnson and Richarlson over Son and Tel, so that the later are on the pitch in the event of a shoot out?

Clearly only if the starting line up is still of the level required, which I think it would be.

My stats are based on the player's first position (when they start the match or come of the bench), but I don't ever have him playing at RM.

He did play RW for a few minutes when he came off the bench v Chelsea: https://thfcdb.com/matches/2022-23/chelsea-fc-26-feb-2023/lineup

Otherwise RB/RWB
