Just heard the presenter say that on TNT and I thought “That’s got to be wrong. They were 3-2 up. How the fudge does the keeper score especially in a Mourinho team”. Only realised that goal took them into 24th place.

Not a fan of the format but it’s entertaining as fudge on a night like tonight.

Well according to a load of people the standard of team we beat to win the Europa League was poor, we've just played one of them minus their star player from last season so can't blame him for saying that :)....
 
Looks like Benfica now play Real Madrid in the Play-off so basically will play them 3 CL games in a row

If I have it right, we will be paired with Barcelona so we cant meet them until the final?? And I think if we progess to the Last 8 we would meet Liverpool or Chelsea depending which one of those is on our half of the draw

I jest only slightly, but I dont expect much agaisnt the 2nd best side In the league, I will give Frank some benefit if we get drilled by a much better side

I agree, and tonight was handled especially well. He will have to persevere with Deki as I do not think he will play this season in any meaningful way (I personally fear for him) but if he can get Maddison back and match fit, well, who knows?

The great irony is that now we're in the last 16, Frank's pragmatic approach could well find it's groove. That, plus the confidence exuding from the players in this tournament, and I will HAPPILY take 16th or 17th in the league and the Greatest of Glory in Budapest.

Game week 8 is the only good thing about the new format. Every other week I’ve no idea what any result means in the grand scheme of things because I’ve no idea who plays who next

I agree with @Robspur12. Frank was initially the messiah to many, especially the media. The Athletic were shouting about how well we’d done to get him, exactly what we needed. Then, just a couple of months later, they’re publishing videos supposedly showing how tactically incompetent he is. All of the extreme analysis also misses the relevant point: this is a team struggling to settle, particularly in attack. Balancing European football, rotation, injuries, and trying to build cohesion is not easy.

Has Frank perhaps overreacted to being in the Champions League himself? Often when a side reaches the CL for the first time, they just go all-out and perform well. Maybe, unconsciously, Frank has done the same not quite getting the same focus in the PL.

Couple of their players are very decent, Hogh scored again and is available for less than £10m and Hauge is a talent too and available for similar.

You have to hope that we get a bounce from this, and that due to City being a football team, there will be space to play?
