***Official Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Sat. 20th Dec. 5:30pm***

Even my Liverpool supporting mates couldn't belive the refereeing. Every one of them say they got lucky and then some, and that says a lot, because that lot rarely admit any wrongdoing has gone in their favor.
They even said that the only explanation would be to even out the Diaz disallowed goal shambles.

I only started watching about 5 minutes before the Simons red card...how were we playing before that? Any good signs of improvement to clutch straws on?

EDIT: Did we look like a team that had almost a week to prepare for a game vs what we've mostly had up until now (i.e. a game every 3 days)?

Yeah, we were comfortably the better side.

They hadn’t had a sniff.

Maddison 20 goal involvements in about 34 starts last season. If you tried to sign an AM to hit those numbers it would cost a lot - and wouldn’t be guaranteed.
Maddison is a very good player that some people like to put all the blame on when Spurs don't play well. He works hard, always wants the ball, is creative, gets into goalscoring positions and is a good finisher. I doubt we can sign a better player than him at the level we are at now.

A boring, cagey game between two poor teams that were frightened of losing.

I said a short while ago that I think we could easily be in more danger of relegation this season than we were last season and I'm not seeing much to disprove that idea. If some of our first choice players who are out take longer than expected to come back and we don't buy a few decent options in January then I think this could be a long, bad, season.

No no straws to clutch at all?
Not even a half-cut one??

I think we will be fine based on the poverty of the bottom three...but we are certainly heading for dodgy territory. We go to Palace without Romero and Xavi, Solanke has reportedly 'had a setback' (whatever that means), Udogie being out is a big miss, and IMO, people are mistaking the passion and fire of a 'what have we got to lose' attitude and subsequent fearless, handbrakeless helter skelter excitement with having a style of play. Not complaining in the circumstances and really enjoyed it, but in no way a sustainable metric, albeit I do hope Frank allows the players to play football more.

Speaking of helter skelter, came across this today when looking for the highlights of Saturday’s game. Something to do with age, but I hardly remembered it - which is maybe a good thing. 😬
