As I’m sure you’re aware, there’s an entire showreel from last season alone of Van Dyke performing similar challenges, plus numerous elbows (the one on Richi in the second keg at Anfield, for example… you know, the game that he shouldn’t have been playing in after he raked his studs down Solanke’s leg in the first leg….) none of which resulted in any punishment at all.

If VAR and officials had bothered to punish Van Dyke for his infringements he’d have been suspended for much of the season and I genuinely don’t think Liverpool would’ve won the league.

As for the officials at N17 yesterday - not to mention the abortion of poor decisions elsewhere - I am becoming increasingly convinced that one day it will come out that they’ve been on the take. It’s a ridiculous statement and it makes me think I’m spending too much time on social media and too much time listening to American conspiracy nutcases. However, I do still retain the power of objective independent thought and I can’t see an alternative!

Regarding Liverpool’s much vaunted support - is it just me or was it absolutely abysmal yesterday? Possibly the only performance worse than the officials. I was sat in 517 which is directly above and didn’t hear a squeak until they scored and even then they mostly reverted to silence. When you consider some of the support we’ve seen this season in that corner - Slavia and Copenhagen spring to mind - I thought they were by far the worst I’ve seen, perhaps ever.

I think that was the quietest I have ever heard them (if that makes sense!) and probably the worst away support this season so far.
Our fans were louder (supportively) than we've been for quite a while, but that would not normally stop away fans, especially when they are winning.

There's definitely middle eastern money going into VAR. One of the main reasons for making decision making private and opaque is to enable that influence. A guy standing in front of 60k people, staring into the eyes of the people he is making decisions about, is much more accountable and harder to corrupt. There's a huge scandal coming down the line about this

In my humble opinion I dont think Muani Simons and Kudus would be starting any games if Solanke , Maddison , and Kulusevski were fit. I know we have to rotate because of the number of games but from what I've seen Muani Simons and Kudus are average at best and not one of them would get into any of the current top 5 starting line ups

I enjoyed it despite the loss. Liked the line up, liked Bergvall's ability to jink past players. My view of the first half ain't great from row 5 of the South, but I thought Xavi looked off from the get go, he looked frustrated and did niggly fouls. But as others have said, having the ref as the enemy fired up the crowd and the atmosphere was maybe the best this season. For me, that's enough - I just want to hear all my fellow fans making a right noise and giving the players some support. Job done and hopefully Frank can remind the players that whatever happened yesterday, the fans showed their passion for the club.

Three goals, two red cards and loads of yellow cards, yet I've seldom seen a more flat spurs v Liverpool game.
It was a poor watch with little excitement or quality, the PL really is going down hill.
Was one of the worst performances from a Liverpool team I have seen at Spurs for many a year
and considering they had spent almost £400m in the summer too
The relied on our being braindead and the ref giving them everything

They are as embarrassed about their club as most of us are
They are always brick fans though
Home and away they turn up but their as vocal a fan base as we are TBH

And we still lost. Even when Liverpool are a poor team, rest assured we can still find a way to ensure they come away with the three points :(....

We are in a bad place now let’s not kid ourselves. If we finish 12th I’d be surprised
Cheer up chap. We need a couple in at Christmas and one of Kulu or Solanke to rejoin the team. The bad news is that we know now that Xavi is not the new Eriksen, but apart from that we've got some decent players. This won't be a quick fix, so just try and enjoy what we do, at the level this team is capable of doing it, or find something else to annoy you...........

I don't really pay much attention to their fans, but I guess it depends how you define support. They are certainly as together creating a siege mentality as any clubs fans I've seen.

But if we are just talking about in terms of making noise I'm guessing people hear them singing YNWA at Anfield before kick off which does create a fair bit of noise, and then forget there's not really much else coming from them the rest of the game....

I thought the best thing to come out of the game was that for once it wasn't the Spurs players who were the enemy. The crowd found a bit of that siege mentality when the ref started to do his thing. The red card was the correct decision and it's pretty pathetic to boo van Dijk for being fouled...but at the same time I thought it was great. Better than booing your own players or condescending cheers for Vicario.

Fully expect things to go back to normal pretty soon though, because we are made of teflon.

Yeah, yesterday was the first match I've attended this season (a few mates declined against spending £100 to join us as the atmosphere has been so toxic over the past 12 months) and as we in the stadium felt like the officials were screwing us over (wish they were allowed to show replays on the screens) it united us all against them plus Van Dijk in an appropriately pantomime manner 🤡

Then when Richarlison pulled a goal back and they announced 9 minutes of added on time that really got the crowd going in a manner I've not experienced in years, first time I've really shouted myself hoarse since watching us batter the Goon scum 3-0 during Conte's first season; back when we were still a top 4 club!

We haven’t had that since anges first games when the crowd knew the players could come back
We did it then vs pool and Sheffield

Thought he looked awful from the South - so easily nudged off the ball and a serious lack of intelligent movement.

He might yet come good but he’s got a huge amount to improve on.

I think where he fluffed his lines in the WC final is what I see with him, does well in areas, good on the ball, got pace, nice control, just doesn't look like he has the goals in him, couple of times he just looked unimpressive in front of goal

Lots of bang average players need to go, i know it won’t happen and i know if it did it would take 4/5 transfer windows but we need to be ruthless. Come in and build your own squad, a number of these players have been here through multiple managers and are still making the same mistakes.

Agree with most of those; Spence I like as a player but I have doubts about him as a positive member of the squad. I’d keep Maddison, but not as first choice.

It definitely needs a change of the squad at around this level.

It’s Spence Jogging back that I stand, don’t put in the effort then shouldn’t be on the pitch.
