I think it's personnel as much if not more than tactical. Udogie is unavailable so Spence is the automatic pick. Then the left options are entirely uninspiring. I would Odobert or even Tel but I can't lie and pretend that I think either are really up to the job either.
That wasn't a foul by Spence at all. This ref is on a mad one.

Yeah! Why do they wait so long for a potential offside but have the urge to call those as soon as they happen even though a goal is likely? fudging stupid.

Exactly! If you're gonna blow when there's a goal scoring opportunity, you better be damn certain it's a FK! Liverpool guy just tried to lean in on Spence, and Spence just got out of the way, so the guy fell over. Just let play go and let VAR look at it!
