O/T Mancini "I am the best manager in England"

He says 'best in the last 15 months'

To be fair - he has delivered silverware and last season very few other mangers stood out. City played good football, scored plenty of goals.

Never understood the hate, tbh - comes across as a nice, honest fella. He's never said anything bad about us or our players afaik.

Chich could win the league with £400m to spend. (Totally picked at random garden lover).

He is a good manager but has ended up looking like he hasn't got a clue on too many occasions for me to take his comments seriously.

Very strange comment. Yes, he's been successful, yes he's won trophies, but that's not really due to extraordinary managing skills, is it?

If that was the case, he'd get the most out of his expensively assembled squad instead of moaning about wanting new players at every opportunity.

Not that I particularly mind Mancini, but that comment is just plain stupid.

Don't take it out of context! He said that the last two seasons he has been the best manager in England because he has won one FA Cup, one Premier League and one Charity Shield.

I was going to say that.

But even that's debatable. Di Matteo won CL and FA cup in a couple of months. About 3 months vs 15 months... Di Matteo won more per month.

If City win nothing this season and United take the league, Mancini is going to have to admit Fergie has done better than him over the last few years.

But Mancini has been insanely defensively lately, (well not just lately), his "if I get sacked, the other 19 deserve to be sacked too" was strange.

It's not difficult to see where he is coming from with those quotes, but it is very difficult to not want to ask him how he feels he'd do at a newly promoted club with no money...

Plenty of managers get sacked and people feel it's harsh. Ancelloti, Adkins, Fat Sam twice, tons of newly promoted managers. Di Matteo.... Etc. Mancini might be struggling to see why if he gets sacked this season, it will not be seen as being nearly as harsh as most of those. If he'd not fudged up as badly in the CL this season, he could afford to come 2nd and probably still have the media say "he deserves a chance, he only went 1 season without winning the league, they made progress in europe, etc"... He isn't even close to progress though... If City get close to meeting FFP regulations, maybe he can say he made progress there, but....

It's actually 21months if he's counting the FA Cup (May 2011).

Feels similar to Benitez loosing it with Fergie, too much internalised stress being brought out by his unchecked ego. He should be crying to a therapist instead, or some such.

He scraped the title in the last minute of the season, on goal difference with by far the best and biggest squad in the league.

He has failed miserably in Europe. Yeah he had a tough group, but guess what, the group was also tough for Ajax, Dortmund and Real Madrid but those teams all managed to win a game, the first two with a fraction of the resources that Mancini has.

And this season he finds himself 12 points behind United. RvP has no doubt made all the difference, but United aren't THAT much better that they should be 12 points ahead of Emirates Marketing Project. Fergie also doesn't bitch constantly about not having enough players.

Have to disagree about the style of play too. They are nowhere near as boring as they were when they took our CL place in 10/11, but they still are like a machine, just effiecient and not that good to watch.

Possibly why he gets more out of decent journeyman players than Mancini gets out of spoilt stars.

He has spent about £500m and won 1 league and 1 fa cup yet still moans about his bad squad, 2 pathetic showings in the CL, what a total **** he really is...
