Im all for this. I identified Rovella and Paz as two players I wanted us to sign over a year and half back. Rovella has had injury issues unfortunately. But Paz has continued to shine. So would be more than happy if we signed him.

We have no idea if Maddison will last season, and no idea if we will actually see Xavi next season, nor what either of them will be form wise.

You could foresee a situation where we are struggling at the end of the year without Xavi/Maddison and an outcry why didn't we act earlier to cover this

We have 3, Maddison, Kulu (so many have forgotten he actually displaced Maddison from the ACM role) and Xavi. A 4th ACM is a little bit of overkill right despite all the injuries.

On a serious note the latest is that he might be available in preseason and even fit for the season.

I don't dislike the idea of Paz or another ACM entirely but it would be far be the lowest of my priorities.
