Next Seven Games

Okay, so we finished that run with four wins, a draw and two losses. The losses hurt quite a bit - both were entirely avoidable, and going out of a cup really stings regardless of the circumstances.

But I think, overall, we came through it well. And it's the allocation of wins, draws and losses that's surprising - no one would have expected us to win against Real f*cking Madrid, and conversely, no one would have expected us to lose against West f*cking Ham after being 2-0 up.

Mate. Let the crapaboo cup go.

Quite content with how that turned out. A draw against MU would have been fair, but c'est la vie. Wasn't a terminal blow and we're back level on points.

As for gaining some hard-earned down time in December and January? Very good. As we're beginning to see, the attrition rate in the Premier League is not abating. At the Palace game showed, every game is played with ferocity.

We're definitely deeper than we have been in recent seasons, but nowhere near the depth of talent MU, MC or Chelsea have. Or can have, given the resources at their disposal. We're excellent through our first 18 - and welcome to those ranks, Senor Gazzaniga. After that, we'll have concerns if too many of those reserve players have to be used at one time.

So, having a full week off between two demanding away games in mid-Dec. is not a bad consolation gift. Same goes for down time in January if we'd advanced to the league cup semis.

Right now, the club have given themselves a wonderful chance to earn another strong PL finish and advance beyond the round of 16 in CL play, both of which would continue the upward growth and development of the squad and the spreading global appeal of the club. You know that's becoming a thing when even the likes of Shaka Hislop gives ESPN's arrogant host donkey hell for not talking more about Spurs.

We should set up another stretch of games to discuss as the Christmas Tunnel approaches.
