Next seasons squad

I had a little think about what a good summer might look like to me earlier. I thought the following in sales: Vicario, Romero, Dragusin, Sarr, Solomon, Richarlison. Which I think would be about £140m of sales.

My 6 signings would be: Sa, Robertson, Senesi, Camavinga, Paz, El Malia, Aghehowa.

About £90m net spend and I think then be well set to make 2 or 3 signings a season from there on in. Very affordable I think.
Not convinced by Aghehowa and would need to see him post ACL
Do like the rest though

I like the guy, worked hard and did well for us in batches last season, but its not worked for me, not the tune of the investment. I think what the big and better clubs have always done well is made a mistake and corrected it, yeh some have afforded is with budgets but you need to bite the bullet sometimes and go again.

17th

Let's have more of that shall we.

Vdv also blanked Frank and at times has come across as petulant

Yip, and it was highly unimpressive. Unlike Spence, he hasn’t been a t wat under numerous managers, though, and I can’t see RDZ standing for any nonsense from him. He shouldn’t be anywhere near the captaincy though for me. He said himself that he was struggling mentally with coping in a relegation battle, so he needs to concentrate on his own game imo.

Nico Paz is meant to be very highly rated, maybe Mourinho can do us a favour and buy him back to sell one but I think they keep him. If they don't then I don't see him leaving Como now they're in the CL.

And that would still be down 60M net from last summer.

If we aren't above 200M in net spend this summer, the "new" owners have completely played us, and it's basically confirmed asset stripping before the sale.

I'd love a robust left-back in addition to Robertson (my preference would be instead of Robertson tbh)

I want Udogie to no longer be number one choice at LB, he's had enough chances now

Yes, i think the summer after Ange's first season was the start. Only one first teamer brought in and the rest were 'kids'.

And we wonder why we've had two 17thg place finishes since then

What's interesting is that you quite rightly talk about the financial dynamics being unsustainable but you were advocating for 7 different transfers in one summer alone above. The way I think about it is that the day we start making only 2 or 3 signings per window we will discover the secret ingredient, as long as they are elite signings. Of course, to make my proposed financial model work you have to be good at 2 other things. The first is selling players. The second is promoting youth to balance the squad.

Personally, I think we spread the budgets way too thinly
7 transfers but 2 of them are zero transfer fee. Of the others, the keeper could well be very low cost. That leaves 4 players, many of which I’m suggesting aren’t particularly expensive. I also think we’ll pull in £130m or so in sales.
