Morgan Gibbs-White

So there was no release clause, then. Ridiculous how much drivel journalists can cough up. Hope we kept working on other deals for similar players. Sick of this one, so glad it's over. Next!
Unless they did all of this just for him to get paid more.
It's so beyond ridiculous I can't even be bothered

That’s where I have landed
It made no sense if there was one in what they could do to stop him joining

Guess the player doesn’t have to go if it’s triggered and have Forest offered him a better deal? I find that hard to believe tbh.
I think we will have offered better teams without a doubt
I think there wasn’t a mechanism activated that needed to be
Spin and bull
Don’t forget we had all this investment too
What I really really don’t get is their “owner” being all over it when he had to relinquish control for them to be in Europe. That’s very very odd

The saudi's must have pulled their funding 😭

Honestly I have to say, after the back and forth we had about whether this summer would be ‘different’, I am leaning very much on the side of ‘no, it’s actually not that different to what has come before’ now. Still time of course, but this outcome is just completely ridiculous in my view.

Spurs either miscalculated:

A: their understanding of the nature of the release clause
B: Maranakis’ willingness to fight for his player
C: MGW’s willingness to push for the move

Completely ridiculous. Why we cannot look like an attractive proposition compared to Forest for a player like this is beyond me. That’s a bad sign for the ‘this summer is different’ idea I had.

This is a big miss. Perfect profile of player for us.

No clue who else was/is an option?

To be fair, buying from teams in the Premier League is hard for everyone, because most have no need to sell their players. Too many owners now who can easily blow us out of the water in terms of cash, ambition, determination and sporting vision (and in Marinakis' case, sheer criminality, where apparently being involved in several murders is no bar to passing the Fit and Proper Persons' Test).

For the cash we were allegedly (allegedly) prepared to pay for MGW, there are plenty of comparable or better options there.

The bigger question in my mind is if that mythical investment that apparently fuelled this bid, still exists - or ever existed. A club with hundreds of millions apparently available does not sit on its hands and do absolutely nothing for two weeks. Seems strange to me.

We have no idea how the deal was/of being funded
But i do agree that for that money there are options out there.
I really like MGW and think he will have an interesting 18 months now because I don’t know where he will end up but Forrest won’t be as good, that’s for sure
We may now go for a couple of players instead, maybe Macatee and Eliott
My worry is actually at CF as without solanke we don’t have a hold up player
Still a long time to in the window in reality but frustrating
