What would the alternative be?
Not sure. Fighting fire with fire in the press? At least getting their side out a bit more?
I’m going with the idea that we’ve done nothing wrong. If that’s the case, what’s the rationale for being silent? Surely putting your case out there too has equal benefit?
Perhaps it is payment terms. Perhaps Forest’s actual angle is ‘we don’t have to accept the bid while legal action is pending’ and we know that they have no evidence. So we’re going to wait an appropriate amount of time in order to just say ‘if you had evidence, you would have brought it by now, so if you don’t release him we’ll be making a legal claim against you. But we don’t want it to come to that…’
It’s funny, I can see a world where complete silence implies we’ve done something wrong. Or it implying we’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. And I’m assuming since the noises out of Spurs are ‘this deal will still happen’ that we know we’ve done nothing wrong, or it can’t be proven.
