I will say having continued chatting with Forest fans, one of the points they seemed fair from their point of view is that it looked like a lot of the journos with contacts at Spurs are really going hard on the release clause point. If I look at Ornstein and a couple of the other ones that would have had a line into Spurs, there is a fair argument that we were trying to make that clause clear and public in a way that would help us ram through the deal.
Eg this report here looks clearly sourced from the Spurs side:

This Ornstein tweet too:
So maybe Spurs approached it as ‘if we make clear there is a release clause, there is absolutely nothing Forest can do’ and Forest initially accepted it, before their owner decided he didn’t want to be railroaded. It doesn’t look like in the above links that Forest are acknowledging the release clause and that’s why it’s public, it looks like Spurs are pushing that line.
I could be completely wrong of course. Given that we’ve now heard nothing for a couple days, I almost do feel like Forest have a point. If Spurs were completely clear here, surely we’re the ones making the complaints, or at least counter claiming, and getting on with MGW’s medical? It’s making me think the need for secrecy has some validity to it, and that MGW’s team were annoyed that Emirates Marketing Project ended up going elsewhere.
