Morgan Gibbs-White

They wanted to cancel the transfer at the last moment, but documents had already been signed and sent.

Took a few days/week to sort out

I wonder if there is a possibility that Forest could get sued out of this. If we have met the release clause then can they stop us or Gibbs-White from talking about signing him?
It would have to be Gibbs-White suing them for breach of contract, definitely a possibility but depends on what's in the contract.

Robinson transferred to Tottenham Hotspur in May 2004, for a fee of £1.5 million; the club had initially attempted to sign him for £2.5 million in January, with the intention of Robinson staying at Leeds until the end of the season, only for this to fail as it violated the Premier League's rules.

That was for Corluka, not Robbo

We basically signed Corluka and then City wanted to back out. We said no, it's already done.

It’s a little silly on their behalf but i don’t blame them in the slightest and i would expect Levy and co to drag there heels as seen when have been on the back of it like modric, Bale, Kane, Berbatov

Sounds like they've had an offer accepted for a midfielder i wonder if this is about delaying the transfer to present some positive news to their fans

There was a week or two gap before the transfer was actually confirmed though, and most commentary during that interlude suggested it was off

The next tweet:

“Premier League has received the complaint and are currently reviewing the case”

“The Premier League has reviewed the case, but senior executives are on vacation so no verdict until next week”

Next week.

“The Premier League has asked for additional information from Notts Forest to reach a verdict”

“Notts Forrest claim they have already sent the information PL say they are missing”

“A postman with a season ticket at the City Ground has been charged with ….”

Etc.

fudge this brick. I want us to say let’s forget about him, but fudge Marinakis winning this. Let the fudger burn.

I really do hope that if we’re keen on this type of player, we have a back up plan in the case that this drags. That’s my always worrying Spurs fan take.

My confident Spurs fan take is…why are Forest doing this through the press while Spurs are saying nothing at all? This must be the 3rd or 4th update about how they’re considering legal action, they’ve written another letter, they’re using the same Forest journo to be their public mouthpiece…meanwhile the only noises from the Spurs side are that this probably still gets done, and the club itself has said absolutely nothing.

I feel like if you were confident in your legal position, you wouldn’t be trying to win the PR war?

Rob Dorsett was also revealing how Forest tried for a year to get MGW to sign a new contract removing the release clause but he refused. It’s all clearly designed to paint MGW and his agents in a bad light for wanting out, and for clearly trying to leverage this clause which is supposedly confidential.

But again, it’s all PR. If they had a strong legal argument, the facts would speak for themselves. Would the PL seriously be influenced by all of this? Surely they would look at the facts of the case and judge.

Agreed. There’s a lot of noise from their camp, and you can’t help but wonder why they want to make themselves the public victim, unless they know they are screwed.

They're writing to warn us that they are considering legal action...
This sounds like the scarily written debt collector letters I have to deal with on behalf of clients where it's all bluster designed to intimidate and browbeat.

What can they club say
He isn’t our player to talk about
I’ll guess that all the leaks are via his agency or Forrest
We haven’t realky had any leak issues around transfers under Lange
