Mohammed Kudus

You can’t teach that

I believe I've mentioned before that I was chatting with an agent who was working with several West Ham players a couple of years ago. He told me that in several analyticals they ran on Kudus, his physical strength and durability came up as being perfect. He was referred to by this guy as 'a rare specimen' and back then the guy thought he would go on to become a super-elite player. He was talking about his strength 'per quarter' (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) combined with his height making him such an immensely strong player.

My only criticism of him was his numbers - but a goal and assist today, can't argue with that. Hope to see him demonstrate more of this and maybe be better at knowing when to release the ball, the rest of his game is great...

When Kulusevski is back I would put Kudus on the left. He is left footed and has played there before. Imagine having Kudus Simmons Kulusevski behind the striker. It will change our game.

He takes defenders on when he wants!

Hopefully learns to play in teammates more as the season goes on though.

He left West Ham because they put him there and he struggled
He doesn’t want to play there
Now…, having kulu, xavi and him should be brilliant

Well if his stint on the left few days ago was anything to go by I'd rather not - small sample size granted. But I think we should play players in their best position and Kulu is better centrally than on the right and Kudus is best on the right....

Something I noticed in the first half today was he was positioning himself more infield than he usually does. I felt at the time it was probably because Xavi was playing centrally and he wanted to be closer to him. In the second half he noticeably stayed further wide as he usually does but it did make me think that he was probably trying to be more directly a goal threat.

In terms of his creation and general gameplay contribution he's been excellent, I think in terms of assists he's joint top so no complaints there also. I think even in terms of goals he's not really been in the position to take many shots rather than him being shot shy so again I think it's largely been positive in that regard, but it would be nice if he can find himself in the position to get shots off, without overly sacrificing the great he's providing on the right.
