Oh dear.
Well, transfer market or bust here for the club. I’ll look forward to us signing an unknown on the last day of the window for a back rub and packet of crisps.
Appreciate the point you're making. But at the same time concerns about Kudus never getting a rest, repeatedly being put into really tough physical battles, looking fatigued have existed for a while. Him getting injured was definitely on my 2026 bingo card. You could not make this up.
For a side whose only realy methof of 'creation' is to look wide, we now don't have a fit natural winger. Brilliant.
We should always have 2 quality wide man challenging for the starting role so even without his injury we were short.View attachment 21164
I think Kudus needs some rotation/competition. I get maybe Johnson is not the one but we need someone to push Kudus. He seems too comfortable and borderline complacent at times (body language armchair expert etc.). Not entirely his fault since Kudus isn't the manager.
Only because of another injury to Kulusevski though? On paper those 2 for RW looks decent enough. We should always have 2 quality wide man challenging for the starting role so even without his injury we were short.
Personally I wasn't the biggest fan of Kulu out on the right beyond his first 6 months there. His form really dropped off for me and he only really looked reinvigorated when Ange moved him centrally and he displaced Maddison.Only because of another injury to Kulusevski though? Whether Frank should have been limiting Johnson’s minutes and making him surplus to requirements by Jan knowing the extent of Kulu’s injury is another question though.

We obviously don't know how Frank would play him but central is Kulu's preferred position and where I think he actually does play his best and has the biggest direct influence imo.
In my ideal world you would have a Kudus along with another quality option. The second option could be a younger player or even someone who is versatile and can play either side potentially but I don't think we should ever go into a season relying on having a single quality wide attacker for and available for the duration of a season.
