Mathys Tel

I saw potential there today. Although there wasnt a goal or assist, he did a lot of good work and was a presence in there. In 12 months, if he develops at the rate Bergvall and Sarr have done, things could get interesting
The potential is definitely there. And as you say works hard and was a presence.

Seems a good pro and hard worker. That and talent is a good mix.

Thought he did ok, he is only 20 and playing in much changed team. Hope for the future and needs time to show it.

Two air shots - suggests he is just trying a bit too hard. Trying to smash the ball too hard. Needs to develop a focus and calm in the moment and place the ball? Rather than try to blast it - which he's capable of too. But start with accuracy over power.

I mean what i would say RE: Soldado and Janssen is that they were both brought in to be key 1st team squad members (in Soldado's case to be our no. 9 and in Janssen's case to rotate/challenge Kane).

There is no such pressure on Tel. We don't actually need him when everyone is fit and even now with players missing we left him out the European squad.

That can either be a blessing or a curse - in that if he doesn't start producing his game time will reduce and reduce and when Muani and Solanke are up to speed and Kulusevski back i just don't see how he even makes a match day squad on current form.

Flip side is there is no pressure/expectation on the club side for him to help us...

What worries me is that we were all saying the same about Janssen and Soldado a few years ago.
The needing one to just go in somehow, yes.

But part of the problem for Soldado in particular was that he wasn't getting those chances.

Good points.

If we think of the younger talented and more attacking players at the club (say Tel, Odobert, Bergvall, Moore just as an example). If 1-2 of those properly step up that's good, we don't need all of them to step up to succeed with this strategy (great if they do of course).

Whereas before it was a more limited number of players, they "had to" make it. Both for now as you say, but also the future.

Tel left Bayern because of a lack of game time and a lack of a clear path I think. He'll do the same here I guess if it goes similarly (he probably should). But that happening to some players is part of the process.

Will depend a bit on injuries, but even more on what he does. I think he's doing fine, but should have scored a couple. If that comes he'll be difficult to leave out of squads.

In a way I was pleased that Savinho is supposedly signing a new contract i.e. (1) I don't know all that much about him but he isn't playing much for City so he can't YET be totally elite (2) we have SO much talent on the left side that hopefully some will come good (3) I would rather buy an established star like Semenyo who we know is ready and firing but (4) I concede I might be downplaying how good Savihno will become, I really don't know enough about him

Savinho played 29 games for City last season and hasn't been playing for City this season because he's been injured and has just returned.

He is far far better than Tel or Odobert, we really don't have that much talent on the left hand side hence why Simons has to be shoe horned onto that side rather than play him in his favoured and best central position....

Cheers. I see Savinho started today and was subbed on 62 with a 6.6 on Fotmob (the lowest of all the outfield players) after which City got 3 goals to win 5-1
Maybe he truly is worth £70m+ but Doku is flawed yet got 8.6.
Maybe he's still coming back from injury, I'm not digging him out, I don't really know him well enough.
