Mathys Tel

With Son rumored to Saudi or Fenerbache we could do with some Tel for sure. I like him. Glad to see him joining. Great attitude on him as well, which is big.

I'm going to have an open mind considering the coach and presumably a new set up. Hopefully with some better coaching he looks a better player than what we've seen so far.

Odobert prefers left. He's right footed, so is most effective coming in from the left side.

Johnson and Yang are our only natural right-siders

Do you know that Johnson is right footed as well, alongside Yang Min Hyeok? One day, logic is going to hit you like an absolute freight train and you better buckle up!

Tbf to Odobert, when he was playing on the right side he was cutting inside and using his left foot so much I had to check what his stronger side was. But that's as someone who hadn't seen a lot of him.

Anyways, I like Tel. He evidently wasn't hurt too much by not getting on for the final, it made sense to put Son on for experience and threat on the counter. Let's hope he'll have a big impact in the next one!

Direct and skillful, and comfortable across the front positions (newsflash - Players do usually tend to play more than one role). Looked miles ahead of Moore when played because he's able to compete physically, and things will click in terms of goals and assists. If there isn't a marquee forward signing to compliment this one, Tel will get a lot of flak if he doesn't immediately start crushing it but that's life.

His professionalism and attitude make this an easy signing.

On his skill and ability, while his stats (goals assists) were not amazing, you could see flashes of his technique. If he is coached well, and develops his mindset, ruthlessness upfront he could be a sensational signing...or not. At 20 so much is ahead of him, no one knows how he'll develop. However, he has the right ingredients to be a solid signing at the very least. No brainer.

Ok so wingers.
Odobert
Solomon
Son
Tel
Johnson
Moore
Kulu
Richarlison

Is it a priority? Or do we need to shift?

I'm always of the opinion we should upgrade where possible.

Moore maybe a loan. Although i'd like to see what frank could do to improve.

Solomon wants pre season although also wanted.

Richarlison so many injuries. But is tel an upgrade at the moment?

Son, i'd want a good transfer fee. Won't happen before we go to korea though.

Id get rid of Solomon, Gil and Son. Loan Moore to WBA. Use Kulu at ACM and Richy as CF.

Then have our WFs as Tel and Odobert left, and Johnson and new addition right.

He has a huge amount of work to do but he has the characteristics to become a long term replacement for Son. Glad we've got him and £30m is a worthy gamble.

You also forgot Yang Min-hyeok. I think he will be a winger for us too.

Determined, good technique, good dribbling, fast, and a good shot.

The way I see it, to make the most of those attributes we need to be setup to make the most of them and consistently get Tel into positions he can cause damage.

We’ve seen it a couple times, but often we give him the ball out v wide with two defenders on him which is not ideal.

For £60m I’d have thought we were crazy, but potentially a bargain at £30m. If we can get him to play to his potential he’ll be quality.
Not to be pedantic but we've not seen good dribbling from him. His dribble stats are really quite poor, he gets dispossessed 3 out of 4 attempts (this is not a good figure).

As I said I'm gonna be positive because maybe Frank can get a tune out of him but I honestly don't see anything special or even the potential to be special from him. The 30m fee feels fair enough as opposed to the previously reported 60m ask.

Just looked at his stats and they are poor.
