While I agree he could do well at a big club, I dont think he (or Lambert, or Rodgers, or Redknapp even) would do well THERE.

The club is poisoned, whoever goes next - unless they already percieved as a club legend or world class manager (mourinho etc) - will be slaughtered unfairly from the off...
 
Genuinely disappointed for Martinez. Its a massive job, so (like Roy) it wont be surprising if he takes it - but I honestly feel he would be on a hiding to nothing there from the moment he steps through the door (like Roy)

Are we really considering Roberto fudging Martinez over Kenny Dalglish? Seriously? Disgraceful.

So we are going to pay Wigan money to get him out of his contract with them when we have Rafa waiting by his phone on the Wirral waiting to say 'I'll be at Melwood tomorrow'.

This is the fudging Rafa> Hodgson scenario all over again.
If this is what they come up with, when the likes of Rafa, Capello and AVB are available then it's the final fudging straw.

I fudging won't, FSG can fudge off if they think they can appease the fans with this brick, we bin Dalglish for a man whose claim to fame is keeping Wigan up.

Damn. I really like Martinez and think he'll do well at some point, but this is not the club. Hopefully he doesn't take it.

How many "no name" managers have achieved anything noteable in the PL or even wider in Europe in the last 3-5 years?

Pool is going to be a huge task, getting them to do well in a Cup run is possible (as we saw this year), but their #1 priority in the EPL title, without Emirates Marketing Project type investment, Jose couldn't achieve that. Add the idiot fans braying for two failures (KK and Rafa) at every stumble along the way .. disaster
 
this is comedy gold. liverpool finally admitting they're a mediocre mid table club.

martinez might do a decent job but it's a hell of gamble. 2 months ago wigan were totally cut adrift.

Every manager was a no name at some point.
 
Liverpool fans have this belief that they're supposed to be fighting for the title every season, regardless of how crap they were the season before. A big name manager and a couple of top signings will somehow magically transform them into champions. They're Liverpool FFS. Nobody understands football like them.
