Knee surgery

awesome dawson

Mitchell Thomas
Twisted my knee playing indoor football in September (Dr never sent me for an MRI scan) and spent the next four months getting physio.

Nearly six months later and I'm still unable to crouch or even think about returning to play sport so the physio refers me to a sports Doctor.

Sports Dr says he reckons I did my cruciate but in a rare situation I was able to keep walking on it afterwards.

Had the MRI scan today and seeing the Dr tomorrow to discuss but if his theory is correct I'll need reconstruction surgery (nightmare financially and in terms of recovery time).

Has anyone had the cruciate operation and how long did it take to recover from?

Is it the ACL? I have plenty of advice if so...doesn't sound like it was to me though judging by what you've written...

Teammate of mine did his few years back - 6 - 8 months recovery if all goes well. Bitch and a half

Make sure the doctor is reputable else it can be fcuked for life if not done properly. Then again, you are in a first world country.

A friend of mine did his ACL in a few years back and the surgery was good enough that he could play basketball again... That was, until he tried roundhousing someone in a bar fight... No more basketball.

I'm in Australia - Melbourne to be precise. I've also got private medical cover which could be a blessing.

Seeing the Dr tomorrow to discuss the MRI scans. Not sure which cruciate the Dr said it was but he did make a point of saying it was a minor miracle that I wasn't stretchered off the pitch. I actually cycled home albeit in severe pain.
