Johan Lange - Sporting Director

In my mind, we didn't replace Johnson with Gallagher. We picked up a long term injury to Bents and brought in more midfield depth. We took a gamble on releasing Johnson to bring in a player like Semenyo.

It's all become blurred because Johnson left and Kudus got injured within days of each other. Then Odobert got injured on 10 Feb, so the consequence is that we've seen Conor play out of position.

It's an absolute stretch to tag Gallagher as Johnsons replacement.

The list of players in our squad who can play right forwards is endless - Kudus, Kulu, Richi, Muani, Tel, Odobert etc. Then you have the narrower ones like Bergval, Sarr, Gallagher and a wild card like Spence.

We'd never really be short in that position but we definitely need more quality in the left and right forward positions.

It's a stretch for us but I'm not sure what Lange and co are capable of tbh.

His job is to sign players that will do well here.

Part of that is getting players that will suit the manager. Another part is getting players that will improve the squad in key areas that we're currently short in (not just positions, but also what abilities we're missing in different roles).

What we don't actually know is what has been "his" signings and decisions on managers. What has been Paratici/Levy/Vinai etc.

What we imo do know is that he was seemingly proud of "not panicking" in January. He didn't see where we were heading.
For the record, I am not arguing for Langhe to stay. I just want to make sure he is hung from the rafters for the right reasons, that’s all.

Criminal that we didn't get 3-4 loan deals done in January. Even if the players did come back from injury it was going to take a while for them to get back up to speed.
Said it before
He and the club made a call that less changes were needed because they were limited in what they could do to the CL sqiad
Very little has been said about that but personally I think that’s scandalously arrogant

THe fact we had 2 on loan already. Even if we released them we could only bring in 2.
Ah, thought you could have 4 on loan, but it's 4 across the season with only 2 at any one time. In that case, it should have been a couple of permanent deals then, or at least not sell Johnson.

We can have 4 on loan but not more than two can be from the Premier League and not more than one from any club. Who have we on loan? Muani?

Lange had room for manoeuvre in January with loans or am I misunderstanding the rules?

The very minimum we should have done was to recall a couple of our own loanees, if nothing else. The club's behaviour in January was an unforgivable dereliction, in my view.

we got better when paratici was around then got worse when lange came on board - so many aborted deals and panic buys
lange had one job - get quality signings over the line.

no wonder paratici left
