I've not seen that from him any more than any other centre back. Sometimes he goes with the player, sometimes he drops off and sometimes he holds the line.

Let me first say that I really like Van Hecke.
But I've been surprised by how aggressive Van Hecke is. From his first minutes in pre-season he really motors into challenges and takes out the ball and the player and the linesman. So far so good, but I thought some of his challenges were at least yellow in a Prem game.
I was also amazed how slow he was when running (can't call it sprinting) back into position, he has relied massively on Tonali to scurry back and fill the gap. Maybe he was taking it easy because it was early in pre-season, but he did look slow compared to the forwards flying alongside him.
I like him, he has loads of positive attributes, I was just surprised how slow he was. We will see in a few days I guess. It is probably all factored in i.e. he has licence to go and clatter players and win the ball and if it doesn't work, the other players know to fill in for him whilst he comes back.
