If the asking price is too high, I think the club should be asking themselves whether he is that much better than Vuskovic. That's money that could be spent elsewhere - our midfield is in dire need of a revamp and midfielders tend to be more expensive than defenders.

Assuming Romero leaves for a decent fee, I'd rather go into next season with VdV, Senesi, Danso and Vuskovic + 50m for a midfielder, than VdV, Senesi, Danso and Van Hecke.

Unfortunately, most managers want to build their first team from the back, which means that De Zerbi is probably pushing hard for a deal as Van Hecke is probably more suited to what he has in mind.

Feels like this one needs the player to step
In and tell them he's refusing to play for them again and is happy to wait a year and go on a free.

If he did that then i wouldnt want him .
Dont think that will happen though. I' d imagine he could hint that he will stay a season then leave for free to us.
