ITK Thread

A bit of a risk then. If he somehow rediscovered his Fulham form he could be a steal. But he may also never be that player again. He was a dynamo there, but maybe it knackered him.

I think the money makes it a risk worth doing, he also played back with Bayern again after. But the injury set him back.

We need bite and experience, so for me the risk is worth taking

Two perspectives:

Paulina is a 35m saving on MGW. Cash we put towards another signing. And probably addresses an area of the pitch we need more (in fact I think we’d play MGW in CM anyway). We already have Maddison, Kulu (and Kudus) for AM and all are more technically gifted though not as hard working. So save the 35m and address an area we need more strength in.

Vs

Paulina isn’t what he was in his lambasting days at Fulham. Injury prone, a bit burnt out and not much different Hojberg. His passing isn’t up to scratch but he is a great destroyer if fit. Why use almost half of the MGW money on him, when longer term we’d be far better off signing the 24/5 year old MGW who has a higher ceiling and could be an awesome CM? MGW is combative and can tackle. When he gets the ball he uses it quickly. He can pass and dribble, and chips in with goals arriving into the box. So would probably be a better long term option in CM.

Which would you go for?

If we can get Paulina effectively for the same price as we receive for Biss, it will probably be worth making the exchange. We only need a bit of cover (along with Bentancur) to give Gray a few months to settle into the role full time.

But more than £20m I wouldn't go there.

€25-30m is what Bayern are asking for Palhinha apparently.

What wages does he want?
If he wants £250k a week (he's on £200k) over 3 years with no sell on that will be £59m or about £20m a year cost.
If we got wharton for £60m and paid him £150k a week (he's on about £40k) on a 6 year contract that would cost £107m. Or £17.8m a year. Plus you could maybe sell on.
So which one is better value?

Both....totally different players

Still leaves us slightly overstocked - 8 players for 3 positions. Some might have to be CL squad only or EPL squad only

Gil, devine, scarlet, solomon, philips, yang, vuskovic/takai, lankshear, donley will probably go out. Whether that is loan or sale. Then it probably depends on who is coming in. Bentancur might be sold.
Not sure why you are bothered. We have this every season as does every club.

Wharton will go for allot more than your guesstimate. Talks of palace wanting nearer to £100m

D1:

Expecting a center half , mgw and one other i cant discuss , son , solomon and gil will go .

He also says that Romero is staying and VDV is potentially being viewed as a full-back

It's funny how it's always:

Rumero,, atlk mudsrid keane dheel lukely. Ghibz wuut... Waitobgg on ggrriin lite. Nr mch trio sllk......,,,,! Bee discssd,, cnt disk ose. Messi.

... with these guys. Like they have dyslexia and wooden keyboards half eaten by termites.

I know this is largely based on nothing more than idle online tittle tattle, but I do feel the One That Shall Not Be Named is a big move for Wharton.

It would make sense that it’s taking its time in that we’re trying to wrap MGW up first, so as Marinakis doesn’t pump us for more money if he sees us dropping £70-£80m elsewhere.

I could be way out here mind…

Generally you're right but the post you quoted seemed pretty comprehensible.

Which is odd for that fella.
