Is Gascoigne Going To Have a Crack? The Spurs nostalgia PODCAST

I've had some provisional conversations with Gerry Francis about doing an episode on the podcast to discuss his 3 years in charge. He was a great help and contributor to my first book so don't want to just repeat the same questions from there.

What questions/themes would you like to hear me discuss with him?
Does he feel he's watched too much tennis?

New pod now out. A new format as I welcomed Saudi Sportswashing Machine fan and (fellow Pitch) author Andrew Nagy to be my guest. We looked at 5 games between Spurs and Saudi Sportswashing Machine during the 90s that helped define both clubs respective journeys through the decade.

We also discussed some of the players who played for both including Gazza, Ginola...and Kevin Scott!

I'm currently recording all episodes for Season 2 (1993 - 1997) and will put them out later in the year. In the meantime I have a number of bonus episodes and specials coming.

Let me know what you think of this opposition style format - I've recorded one with a Coventry fan and got an exciting one lined up with an Arsenal member of staff!

I've just launched my Spurs nostalgia podcast to help promote the books. Season 1 will focus on 1989 - 1993. Trailer episode out now and weekly episodes to follow next week starting with an interview with Darren Anderton!
There are a number of player interviews, season reviews and thematic episodes about some of the leading characters and events of the era.

You can follow and subscribe via this link:

Love the show. Can’t wait for season 2 and hope you continue into the 2000’s after.

Dream guests got me would be Stephen Carr and Nicky Barmby.

Many thanks Rob! Really appreciate the feedback.

I have tried to get in touch with Barmby but no joy so far.

I thought I was the only person of earth that noticed Stephen Clemence turned into a top tier ball winning midfielder against Arsenal and was bang average against anyone else @90sSpursBook 🤣

Idea for a bonus episode @90sSpursBook would be 90’s Spurs players in the World Cups and Euros.
I did think about something along those lines but I've got all of Season 2 coming out over the summer so not got space for it...but have done some research and got a quiz for you...

At the 1990 World Cup can you name the 3 players (named in a squad for any of the competing nations) who were registered as Spurs players...the 4 who had previously been Spurs players and the 6 who would go on to be Spurs players.

And if you enjoy that you can try same for all other tournaments during the 90s:

92 - 2 current, 1 previous, 2 future

WC 94 - 1 current, no previous, 7 future

Euro 96 - 5 current, 5 previous, 7 future

WC98 - 7 current, 4 previous, 8 future

90 England the extra one is Hughton.

Without cheating I got to Hodge, Klinsmann, Keller, Gough, Dumitrescu and I’m gonna count former youth team player Des Walker as you said registered?

Season 2 - covering Summer 1993 (and the aftermath of Sugar v Venables) - Christian Gross' appointment in 1997 is now out. I've released the trailer episode that talks you through what is to come over the next 10 weeks.

What better way of forgetting the traumatic 25/26 campaign with a look back at a g(l)ory period in our history bookended by 2 relegation scares!

Full schedule:

16 June - Jason Dozzell interview
23 June - The Summer of 94 (points deductions, the World Cup and Klinsmania!) with Theo Delaney and @milo
