Interim manager thread 2.0

When Redknapp came in the first time he had no connection to the club, when Poch took over he also had no connection to the club. These are irrelevant emotional wants. We don't need someone with a connection we need someone who is capable of getting points out of these malcontents. It's that simple, it can be someone in the club it could be someone from Timbuktu but where they are from or the connection they have to the club is completely irrelevant and unimportant.
Yes but they have a connection now. The fans need an uplift as much as the players, if Harry turned up the fan base know he knows his stuff and had us playing some of our best football in the last 20 years would be something the fans could cling on to. Players generally warm to him and would enjoy training and playing under him imo. I'm not 100% sold on the return of Poch but I can guarantee that if somehow he turns up again in our dugout the crowd will believe in the team again. Whether it works is another matter but at this stage we're desperate to try anything.

Shaking my head reading comments about getting Ange back.

The same Ange that lost 22 times in the league last season and has no wins in his last 13 Premier league games? Yeah that'll work.
That was only because he was focusing on the Europa league and sacrificed the league, we would have finished 4th otherwise silly.

For sure vibes are important. That mostly comes from getting results and performances though. There's no real short term repair of the stuff between the hairline and eyebrows. Confidence and belief has been shattered. Maybe a real vibesy person coming in could give the players a momentary lift, but only if a result or two follows fairly quickly. No vibes guy that can keep that up in this situation as long as results are failing imo.

Not saying it can't make a difference just to be clear, just that the difference that can make is very much limited and if results don't go our way the difference will be short lived.

We may need a change and I don't know who we should change to in that case. More than anything we need luck to somehow get a result from somewhere. Something to build on.

And we need to play every player that can deal reasonably well with this situation. Had VdV been sent off (as he should have been) last night it would have gone much worse.

If Tudor and the players think they can build on the positives that were there yesterday I think I'd give them a chance to do that for another game or two. If we make another change that's surely the last role of the die (apart from getting injured players back). Make the change now and a couple of games are lost from that point, where can we turn?

I don't disagree overall.

We are in 'last roll of the die' territory for sure, and IMO, if we make no changes, as the squad currently stands, we are going down. There appears to be no chemistry whatsoever between squad and management. None. I do not think we can even start to look to things like luck. As it stands, we have 27 points to play for and everything still in our hands. I also think we're thinking too much about injured players/return dates. Yes it would be nice, etc, but who is available for Sunday? And then next Friday, who is available before Forest? We need to start thinking in the 'now' as a club IMO, 9 game mine-season, one game at a time, repair the systemic injury between eyebrow and hairline...

My hypothesis is that the only reason Tudor is still here is because there is no standout candidate.

Any serious manager who will want longer than this season would mean no Poch.

Of the short term options we either don’t want them (Ange, Redkanpp) or they wouldn’t want us (Klopp).

Ps. I read above someone say we’d have explored Klopp before naming Tudor…..I think it’s pretty clear the chuckle bothers just went to Paraticis man. I’d now be going to Klopp and asking him to name his price.

On Ange, he is one of the only ones that would tick two main boxes for this situation. Get the players onside and get the fans onside (I’d hope). That Forest game would all of a sudden have a very different look and feel.

The problem is we’d look even more Mickey Mouse than we do now.

Are there any other short term managers (apart from Klopp and Ange) that would tick those 2 boxes?

Amorim?
Southgate? I’m not a fan but he’d do a job here
Klinsmann?

No thanks. This is a bit different to other caretaker situations he has had us in, and he took West Brom to 18th in the league. It requires more than being a Spurs fan to turn this brick show around....
West brom were brick. They didn't have the players to play his way
