Interim Manager Discussion - Igor Tudor joined until end of season

Would you have these as interim manager to finish the season?

  • John Heitinga

  • Current Coach (Lewis, Cochrane, Burnett, Carr)

  • Ryan Mason

  • Jurgen Klinsmann

  • Chris Hughton

  • Brendan Rodgers

  • Edin Trzic

  • Gareth Southgate

  • Former Manager Hoddle/Jol/Redknapp/Sherwood

  • Stick with Frank no matter what

Essentially, he needs to get 4 wins from our final 12 games. Three would probably be just about enough, especially if two of those are against Leeds and Forest.

I thought I'd take a punt at making some predictions. Join in if you feel like it...

Arsenal (H) - 1 point
Fulham (A) - 1 point
Crystal Palace (H) - 3 points
Liverpool (A) - 0 points
Forest (H) - 3 points
Sunderland (A) - 0 points
Brighton (H) - 3 points
Wolves (A) - 3 points
Aston Villa (A) - 0 points
Leeds (H) - 1 point
Chelsea (A) - 0 points
Everton (H) - 1 point

The obvious 'heart over head' is Goons at home. Reality says defeat but new manager bounce plus it being them says a draw.

So 15-16 points for me, which means a season end of 44 or 45 points.
Thoughts?

Crystal Palace (H) - relegation battle
Liverpool (A) - trying top 4
Forest (H) - relegation battle
Sunderland (A) - mid table, trying for Europe

Wolves (A) - relegated by then?
Aston Villa (A) - trying top 4
Leeds (H) - relegation battle
Chelsea (A) - clams
Everton (H) - mid table, trying for Europe

Ordinarily you'd have a few more teams with nothing to play for padding out these fixtures but the compacted nature of the league means most/all teams have something going on (if you ignore the actual football it's probably the most exciting season for a lifetime tbf) dunno how this will affect things for us but thought it was worth a mention

3 wins and 2 draws would be safe, likely 3 wins alone would be good enough.

I think a lot depends on the start, 3 good results in that first 5 could give the team the confidence to push on, especially if we get a few players back for final 4 games (Kudus, Maddison, Porro).

Would be really good to close off the season on a good run, e.g. 8 or 9 points out of last 12.

I always like your optimism Steff but I find that pathway a bit scary tbh. And fcuking hell it just highlights how utterly reckless the board have been to allow this to drag on to the point where there’s a real danger that we’ll go down. Essentially we’re hoping that the bounce we get from Tudor is as good or better than Forest get from Pereira. I don’t think West Ham will go down, Nuno is a good manager and he’s bedded in there now. Leeds look like they’re up for the fight. I wonder if Palace might be the ones to bail us out.

Have we heard anything about which of the coaching staff are staying or going yet?
I don't know if Tudor is one of those managers who has his own trusted few but we're packed to the rafters with coaches after bringing in everyone Frank wanted, so I'd assume that Igor is just going to have to make do with what's already here?

It’d be utterly brainless from the board to bring him in and not give him what he wants in terms of a coaching team. Not to mention reckless.

If that’s the lads already there, fair enough. If Tudor wants someone else, give it to him.

Arsenal H - 0
Fulham A - 0

Liverpool A - 0
Forest H - 3
Sunderland A - 1
Brighton H - 3
Wolves A - 1
Villa A - 0
Leeds H - 3
Chelsea A - 0
Everton H - 3

And that's me being positive.
If we can't beat Palace and Forest at home I'll start to get really worried.
Fingers crossed, etc.

Hi, I'm new here.

I don't know much at all about Tudor but at least he's got a bit of time before his first game and with it being Arsenal, it's a bit of a free hit considering our current form and injuries.

While I'm not the biggest fan of a back 3, it does kinda suit our squad.

Hope he does well and I'd guess that it'll probably be Poch in for the summer.

You’re very welcome!

New?!
Hmmmm.
Did you bring a shubbery?

Fans on Social media apparently losing their minds over the appointment. The same sort of people that would have acted like this when we appointed Jol if social media was as big back then.

We need to be fully behind the manager and team for the rest of the season. Place needs to be rocking when we walk out against the Goons. Let's not start off this short and possibly brief chapter with negative vibes.

I do agree, sadly we have quite a few supporters who do like a good rant.
