Guglielmo Vicario

Not sure if he’s apologizing or calling out individuals? Either way I can’t stand this over the top clapping of the fans after a defeat, just get down the tunnel.
Vicario has been magnificent the last few games and better than I thought he could be. But he does play to the crowd a bit.

And, like you, I think players should be just down the tunnel particularly after a defeat. Token clapping and acknowledging fans does nothing for me. I pay to come and watch you play and try to win a game of football. All this faux respect is just a charade.

Agree, this token clapping does nothing for me. But at the same time you know if they just disappear down the tunnel there will be a load of outrage by a section on Twitter and what not that they didn't acknowledge the fans after such an embarrassing effort.

Let's be honest, you can't really win as a footballer sometimes....

You’re a million per cent right. They’d get slated for being out of touch with “the people who pay their wages”.

Yep. If you apologise for a bad performance/result and keep apologising after every defeat then fans say “stop apologising, just do better”. But it’s worse if you don’t apologise. I haven’t seen or read Thomas Franks’s comments but imagine if he didn’t come out after the game and try to explain that performance!

Yep some fans will find something to moan at, but after a defeat you shake hands with the opponents, clap the fans for 10/15 seconds from the center circle or wherever you are. then fudge OFF! No one could complain about that.

What’s all this lap of honour crap or standing in front of the away fans for a minute or so. Didn’t happen in my day…

Ben Davies said it was something the team had decided to do more this season regardless of the result. It was in response to one of those typically brick questions you get at a fan forum, but Ben answered it really well imo (1:27:50 ish in the video)

some fans just want a close up look at the players - whatever helps rapport with the fans i say do it, they earn too much not to

Money has nothing to do with it. Vic having to push Lucas away from fans says everything. My hero was Hoddle he never walked over & clapped me did I care absolutely not. one day it's going to turn nasty then what. What if a fan sticks up for a player & it kicks off in the stand.

Score a goal go absolutely nuts celebrate with the fans end of the game walk off clapping it's how it used to be done.

Back on topic Vic has been playing really well let's hope he keeps it up for the rest of the season

This reminded me, I think a fan once came leaping out of the south stand and karate kicked a Gooner player, but I can't remember much about it or what happened to the fan, does anyone remember?

Don't remember that. I do remember watching Roberts putting Nicholas in the stand. Even thinking about it makes me smile
