Fabio Paratici - Consultant

As much as we don't like the stench Conte has left, i'm sure Conte getting top 4 within a few months of being hired is viewed as a success...

Small margins

- What if Jose didn't run into Covid and got the money Conte did?
- What if Conte didn't have 3 people in his personal life die quite quickly and affect his commitment to the game?

Getting to CL post Poch was an important statement

Yes, indeed small margins. Hence why i think Paratici could say he succeeded in terms of getting Conte in mid-season, buying Kulu and Bentancur to eventually get last season's top 4 finish..

I wonder what the odds are that Paratici is cleared to continue working again after this week? Its hard to believe there's any chance after all that's been reported in recent months but I wonder if there is still a possibility it could all go away and he will end up back to work as normal

I'd be fine if Paratici continued his work as a consultant. Especially since we've got Munn who doesn't seem well connected globally.

Of course, provided that Paratici stops any of the shady stuff he is guilty of from before.

Not sure what the standard are for being a director, I guess UK regulation will be clear.

Paratici is not actually a Director of the company, so I don't think UK regs would apply to his position.
Nonetheless, if his appeal(s) fail or even if the period of his ban is reduced, his position becomes untenable imo.

Completely. Only saving grace if he is banned, thereby leaving us with no option apart from to fire him, is that the groundwork (scouting, prioritisation in each position etc) for the summer window has presumably been done by now. THere's obviously the non inconsiderable job of getting deals over the line, and selling our dross, but we shouldnt be completely laid bare

I fear that we might be in an awkward position where his ban is shortened e.g. to 6-12 months say - would leave Levy with a tough call

I'm not sure how a 30 month ban is legal. Effectively saying that someone can't work in their field of specialism for 2.5 years is ridiculously draconian

I don't think so, any type of ban whether 1 week or 1 year should rightfully see him dismissed. We can't have that kind of publicity around the club.

I don't think there's any issue really, this relates to his work with another club, it wouldn't have been done off his own back anyway it would have been a club decision to find a solution by any means necessaryto get them out of the brick - if he gets a small ban and then is allowed to work once it's served then there's no reason for him not to be employed. Outside of our fanbase i don't think it's even a talking point tbh

There's no point in justice if you don't permit redemption after the punishment.

Remember our current manager was once banned for match fixing, a far worse offence.

I think the other way, if we want to attract sponsors and project a good imagine it's important to be as clean as possible. Plus there's a lot of work to do, we can't have our DOF banned while we need a big rejig of the squad.

Personally i don't think businesses sponsoring football clubs give a damn about that, the game is littered with corruption and awash with sponsorship money.

100%
They are thinking of their own image and where that will be present
United and city haven’t lost sponsors who have been accused of worse things

According to DiMarzio there may be a decision tomorrow. I hope he doesn't win the appeal and then once we get a new manager UEFA comes back and says "sorry, we made a mistake." He can then focus on new signings.
