I think the VAR decision was double jeopardy. I thought they decided a few years ago that a penalty and red card was too harsh, so the fair result is yellow if penalty, but red if foul cynically stops a goal scoring opportunity outside the box. I

I think you can still give away a penalty and get a red card if you make no attempt at playing the ball.

Textbook case of why you don't want Fernandes as captain. Goes down under barely any contact, loses ball in build up to the opponent scoring a goal and gets booked having a moan at the ref.

I was speaking to a united fan yesterday and I asked whether it was tough supporting them with such a clam for a captain, he shrugged it off but I reckon it's gotta hurt. Mctominay would be a miles better captain as at least he sets the right tone in his performances.
