Not impossible and you really having a chance is two very different things. A realistic statement would be Spurs is competing to be in in top 4, and participate in CL (and we have done both in the last 12 years or so)

To push on, we would need additions, better depth and a couple of top level starters (last time we truly were 2nd, in CL final, we had prime Kane & Son).

Still say, it's a bit of a weird statement from a conservative chairman in a pre-recorded video (not spur of the moment)
Agree with this . With regards to top level starters this is exactly what we need.

A lot will disagree but I don’t see us troubling top 4 until we buy some better players.

I don’t see any real world beaters in our squad. I mean top top tier talent. We have some young players who could possibly get there but for every Kane, Bale , Modric ,there’s been double that in dross that never gets there.

This squad does not have anything near the mentioned above. Let alone others we have seen come good . Dele , Berbatov etc.

This is a position I’ve held for a while spoke to it all last summer. The quality of player we have has diminished.

We do need to buy young unproven talent and hope that we pick up a Gem but also need some real proven quality to help them come good and to show them the way and set standards. Son was that but that’s gone a year or two back in terms of once top tier talent. Romero maybe but he is not in that bracket I’m talking about.

Looking at our squad as it is Frank will need to get us playing well beyond the some of our parts to get close to top 4. Poch done that but had some talent sprinkled in and coached players to be better.

Some of our fan base massively over rate our players because they are at Spurs.

We also need a proper captain. A leader as I don’t see one when things are going against us .

I think we have some good players and some of those good players, along with the much younger ones, have not reached their ceiling yet. Far from it.

Many are a match for what we have had before, the BIG difference is we had two WC strikers come thru the club at the same time. Tbh when does that ever happen and how do you replace them without at bare minimum teething problems?

Mostly agree, I'd say we have a better squad/bench (full 18), yes, not the elite level game changers (some promise but not year)

I think we will be in/out top 4, but to establish ourselves, total quality needs to go up

It's a team with very good players, very little deadwood (another change from the older Spurs squads), I think this team (with proper coaching/tactics and a little luck on injury front) walks top 7 every year, pushing beyond that requires 2-3 ready made players that are first team starters.

I do take your point above. Poch never had a deep squad but he had an amazing eleven and couple of spares.

Our squad is now stacked so we can't really add to it without removing, but we definitely need some subtle upgrades. That may happen, but more likely the manager change was about getting the sum of the parts more effective together first.

I don't think that Saudi Sportswashing Machine or Villa particularly have that level of player aside from Isak between them and even then he's not exactly Harry Kane - CL being on offer down to 5th means initially we only need to be looking at them and Chelsea as who to compete with. Hopefully we start to buy or develop players in to that quality from this summer/season but we can compete at that level if things click with Frank i feel.

To go beyond that and challenge City Arse & Liverpool then we need to have a couple of summers of good buys coming in and elevating the team you'd expect.

Just feel top 4 might be a stretch. Top 6-7-8 I think is where we are at. As this squad stands.

I’m with you on game changers. Something we lack . Will we push to sign that little bit of extra quality ? I hope so.

Take Eze he may well flop if we went for him but he’s prem proven. It’s always an unknown but he’s the profile of player we should be after.

To be honest I don’t know. Really good strikers are hard to find.

I do think we lack in a top tier midfielder also it’s a weak area I feel.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine has Issak (54 goals in 86 games is extraordinary), Bruno Guimaraes & Tonali (when not being a dingdong) are very good players. Villa has done the route of older pros more often

Don’t disagree with that. Isak is no Kane but he can buy a goal from nothing.

I’d argue their midfield is better than ours. Barcodes that is.

I think Striker and CM is our weak areas. We need some real quality more so in CM.

Yes good players however they are good players in a team that is finishing around 4th - 6th are they really of the calibre that elevates a team above what we can hope to compete with? Not for me

I get where you’re coming from but their midfield is better than ours . That’s where games are won and lost. It’s powerful with some goos passers it has a nice balance.

Defenders is where they need to upgrade. In my view. They could push on with upgrades. They are better placed to do so than us.

Our CM needs a massive upgrade. I don’t rate any. Bergvail maybe will become a star but we need upgrades.

It was frustrating to me how Saudi Sportswashing Machine's midfield of Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton seemed to stay fit last season; each time I turned on the TV they would all be there, plugging away.
No Europe and no European travel helps massively of course, so they will struggle with that presumably.
Here is their injury history: [edited to put it in order of minutes]
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bruno-guimaraes/verletzungen/spieler/520624 Played 3900 minutes in total, all competitions last season

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/sandro-tonali/verletzungen/spieler/397033/plus/1 Played 3300 minutes

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joelinton/verletzungen/spieler/333241 Played 3000 minutes

So that is 3900 3300 3000

For reference Deki played 3500, Bentancur 3000, Sarr 2900, Maddison 2700, Bissouma 2500, Bergvall 2300, so that is not bad comparatively. Deki played a huuuuuge amount before injury and Bruno played a good chunk more.

In general I think LIV ARS MNC are way ahead.
Then CHE have spent an insane amount of money and are inching forwards but surely that bubble will pop at some point?

Then the table went NEW AST NFO BRI BOU BRE FUL

NEW AST will find it tricky to balance the books and fly around Europe and deal with injuries.
Of course TOT's ambitions are above NFO BRI BOU BRE FUL etc.

So 3 teams are definitely ahead, then CHE, then we are aiming to get into 5th place above NEW AST and hoping assuming 5th gets a CL place again.

Chelsea are also playing big boy football next year in Europe
That will have a dent on their squad but luckily they have sold a car park, hotel and a team of ladies to cover their losses
Saudi Sportswashing Machine haven’t done that and can’t get a deal over the line for a £45m winger from Forrest (sound familiar)
Villa have to sell this month and also can’t afford the wage bill they had so they need to do something clever or crooked and their Chelsea cahoots may not work this time
Forest in Europe… will cripple their squad IMO but they will really enjoy themselves
